Sorry if it came across as a complaint, I am merely proposing a change to reduce time needed for gear related decisions.
Also the responses I got were:
- a no without reasoning(not useful)
- a no with a reason(thanks for that)
- someone also spending more time on vendors than necessary
- something offtopic(not useful)
- an understandable question
- your current post, that I don't know how to classify yet
This isn't worth changing
From the looks of the Sql-Dumps of the WARemo-DB that should pretty much just be a few update statements, rematching the vendor and the items. Might be mistaken with that, I'm not handling the database after all.
The reason I'd consider this to be worth changing is that it should be a tiny amount of work for an easier to grasp distribution of buyable equipment.
If the issue would be time, I'd understand your point and would have a look at how to semi-automate the work for you.
your proposed system is even worse for players seeking to view items in a natural class (renown, PvE, scenario, RvR set).
You mean the source is the natural way of organizing things? So you'd put stuff bough from shop 1 together at home(food, clothes,a toothbrush, etc.) and the stuff from store 2 to another place(other food, drinks, soap, etc.)?
Might sound weird to you, but I rarely store my clothes in the fridge :P

The vendors are set up the way they are because level is, first and foremost, the measure of the utility of a renown item. Change that and you've actually made the system more complex (greater number of vendors required) for less benefit. If I'm 35, I couldn't give a damn about a 28, 14 or 5 one-handed weapon. I only care about items near my own level. The vendors are fine as they are.

And that is part of the issue, you don't have as much of a choice between multiple valid vendors like people still leveling have.
Assuming you wouldn't already be fully equipped, you'd at least need to visit one less trader to chose your next purchase - I mean you know if you have a bad sword you'd visit the trader with swords to look for a replacement.

With the current system you'd still need to visit at least two to see all options - and if you are buying everything then both systems will send you on a long trip between vendors.

If it would actually only be obvious, what vendor is exactly selling what without guessing what some so named "speciallised vendor" or "exclusive vendor" is actually offering...

What's inside of a gold bag is actually more obvious than that naming system... -_-

And no, I don't think that means it's broken,...perhaps it only needs help from Captain Obvious,...

You match your gear to your level and renown. Having the vendors with all the armor and accessories of each tier level makes sense. You are going to upgrade your armor/weapons in that fashion. So you have to trot on your pony a few feet away to talk to the vendors that have level and renown appropriate weapons. Not a deal breaker. By any stretch.
Perhaps making sure they are in correct order going from lowest tier to highest, or giving them a title as an indicator of tier (Lieutenant, Major, Captain, General) would make it a bit more efficient, but it really doesn't need to be changed. It functions. Or as Mythic would have put it, "working as intended".
Order only. Just High Elves.

It aint broke, dont need to fix.

Arent the vendors organised by tier? So you can view all weapons of any one tier at once, rather than just the 1-h/2-h weapons. What good is seeing level 6 1-h weapons when you're 28? (for example)

They are currently organized by old tiers and gear source if I'm not mistaken, meaning you got multiple vendors for anything you might need.

Yeah, but you'll only ever need the vendors for your tier, normally the weapon and the armour merchant. Anytihng outside your tier will be either useless or un-usable.

you got multiple sources for both, there is:
- Sc weapons & armor
- RvR armor
- Renown gear

Makes at least 3 that could have better stuff ;) (not even talking about overlapping in some cases) And about the level 1 weapons, you'd just switch to "useable now" and scroll to the bottom ;)

Spoiler:
Hi,
I was wondering if reorganizing the gear trading a bit might help.
Currently the Vendors are grouped by useable currency and/or tier, meaning you'd need to visit 2 to 3 to have a look at all the swords(as an example) that you'd be able to use.
Wouldn't it make more sense to group them by kind of gear they sell - so a trader for twohanded weapons(including staffs), one for onehanded weapons, one for helmets etc., so that the comparison is easier to do?
I would group Books/Chalices and shields as specialized gear tho, since there is no class using a combination of those.

(couldn't find a similar topic, but the search might just have failed me)
Good idea, except, if I recall correctly, vendors are single-currency only. Which is a shame, really.
Means determine end.
