Being able to thorn pot / OYG! down mobs is **** game design, not botting.
So we can do that?

Yes. Botting means using software to automate gameplay. Just turning on a damaging aura and running around killing mobs with it doesn't fit that description.

Ok, just to clarify... I can log my kobs. Use my aura. Go to bed. Not wake up banned?

Yes. You will only be banned if you use some form of automation, for example to stay online and dodge the AFK kick, or to loot mobs.

There is an auto logoff mechanic which prevents that you stay ingame for a long time without pressing a key. Avoiding the autologoff per 3rd party software is botting and therefore forbidden.

You'd automatically log out like you normally do when you're AFK

I'm not 100% sure you guy understand me.
For instance.
I use auras to farm mobs while im AFK. Without looting. Is that allowed? I'm making concrete 100000%.

If ANY ELEMENT of your farming mobs AFK using auras involves automation, through program or otherwise, by some element that is outside of the Warhammer client, you are in violation of the botting rule.
I cannot make it simpler than that.
If you stand there using your aura to farm mobs, and you, the player, move the character every so often, manually, to avoid the logout timer, then you are not in violation of the rules. But that is the only way in which you would be able to stay online and not be in violation.

Botting in it's simplest form is using something like AHK or maybe G-Series keyboard software to create a script/macro that repeats a set of keystrokes/clicks. For instance I have seen plenty of people running a script that is just using tab every X seconds and probably mashing a nerfedbuttons macro key. The funniest one was in talabecland where someone was scripting 2 people at once and they died and were in the camp killing level 1 rats for hours. These are undetectable, but extremely obvious if you ever see anyone using them. So do you part and report people you see doing this :^)
Getting into deeper territory you have really advanced scripts that start reading from the games RAM to access information that shouldn't be available to the player etc... I think I seen an old bot that would que up for scenarios and run around them and do a minimal amount of scripted fighting / running away based on health etc... These are from my experience detectable? Remember a huge wave of people getting banned from PoE not long ago using a program that read from RAM to do various things like reveal the randomly generated maps, highlight certain things, and allow them to zoom out farther.
Basically it's using software to perform menial tasks while you are not at the computer.
What people are scripting/botting can often times tell you flaws with game design. For instance I think 90% of people botting are probably doing so just to level up (leveling is ****). When people are doing it for gold/items it also can point to a busted economy based on mindless grinding instead of skillful/thoughtful play. When people did it for emblems on live it pointed to a system that didn't reward skillful play, there was almost no difference between AFKing and playing your heart out in terms of reward.
I am not trying to condone cheating, just saying that it can often point to flaws in a game.

Great, thanks for your replies and your discussion about this. You've clarified for me what this is. Thanks.
