Dok yay or nay?

I am liking the class , but at times i feel handicapped. not enough resources ,have to melee and watch bunch of other healthbars as well as mine, then getting focus fired and dead. Feels like bad dps/tank/healer combo. The only other healer i played on Live was shaman, a totally different experience. Anyway its not a rant , just wanna hear what people with experience have to say about DOK. I never heard that DOk was a weakling. So it must be me :?

Dok healing is one the most broken things I've seen having a crap ton of armor and having a pretty fast cast time on there Aoe.
Doks and WP make great Backup healers and every Group has to atleast run 1

Class is fun, but u right it is a back up healer. Aoe heals are late in game.

DoK and its mirror Wp are utterly and completely broken, and are the best healers in the game with 2 resources to draw heals from and medium armor while all other healers have light armor

The problem is that while the cocept behind the 2 classes; front line healers is cool and interesting the execution was awful resulting in strongly armored, easy to play, backline healers spamming shields, gheal and cleanse

You don’t need to be in melee to get your resource due to passive gain from chalices/tomes

Having played all 6 healer classes, if you want good numbers in healing without too much micromanagement a Chalice is the way to go, keep in mind that the higher tier color the Chalice the more resource it restores in increments of 2 (White 2, Green 4, Blue 6, Purple 8) so trying to find a good purple chalice like the Chalice of Thunder (might be a different name) is a good idea. With 8 resource income you hardly ever run out as long as you weave in your AP heals with your resource heals. DoKs from what I experienced are more into Sustained Healing and not big bursts at once, which is great early on because those HoTs are OP.

did the dok and wp change from live they use to be a dam good healing class hitting over 1 mil healing in sc. if not i think there just not getting played right ur not a good melee healer until level 34 and up well if ur try really hard u mite be alright but with the broken party's and wb maybe not. i use to stack WillPower and HealPower on my dungeon dok when i did sc the healing war insane with tank guard unkillabe slotting the right tactic is key also set up some pre heals to just befor the fight starts with ur hots and use the first heal u get at the start of the game only if needed cos it use up allot of resores and can leave u empty when u need it most

ATM, DOK's and WP's are the best healers in the game, at least in numbers. After that, probably zealots and RP's, and last sadly are the shamans and AM's. Although ( I assume shaman is the same) the AM's mechanic is broken where you cast either heal or dmg spells and it decreases the opposing spell cast by 20% for each point up to 5 points or 100%. So atm, what should happen is, if I cast 3 dmg spells, my heal spell should be 60% faster. But it's not. Our group heal spell takes 3 seconds to cast and single target heal takes 2.5 seconds, way longer than the other classes. Another issue is certainly trying to cast single target heal and the recipient goes behind a 2 inch twig and you waste your cast because " you can't see them".

I'm not sure it's just because we aren't T4 yet and maybe that's where AM and shaman's come into their own, I don't remember, but I do remember on live I was one of the top healers and a top helaing AM, and now I have actually retired her temporarily. Hopefully their mechanic will get fixed in the future, and hopefully they'll get improved. ( note, they do well in t1 though!!).

Granted WP's and DOK's are tricky to play, but they can kick serious healing ass!
