Blue & Red dots on the map
Blue & Red dots on the map
I know this has been brought up before, but what is the likelihood of fixing destro/order dots on the map before t3? It makes it difficult for smaller groups to "gank" and takes away from the surprise element. Even for wh's and we's all you have to do is look at the mini map and aoe to pop them out of stealth or just run away. Those two classes rely on good coordination to be effective, but anyone who looks at their mini map can avoid them easily.

Re: Blue & Red dots on the map
I do think a fix is on the way. Just like the AoE through walls fix, it just takes some time, especially considering we don't have that many devs.
Gotta give it some time, there are a lot of things needing a hotfix, it will come.

Re: Blue & Red dots on the map
We don't know what caused it to begin with, though my current guess is that Guild Heraldry broke it, and that whatever will fix the cloaks will fix the dots.
Re: Blue & Red dots on the map
Seriously??? The heraldry broke it???
The problem with the old Warhammer was that the server would broadcast the position of all the players in range and rely on the client to decide what should be displayed on the map or not. That is why people using WarExtDll and nRadar were able to see everybody's dots on their minimap. However, the server never broadcasted the position of hidden WE/WH, so that these cheats were never able to locate stealthed player. You control what information the server sends to the client - send only group and warband members location.

Good to know! I enjoy playing my WH, but it can occasionally be frustrating trying to stealth around and having everyone follow me on their map lol

You're not talking to an idiot here. If I say we don't know what caused it, you can bet your ass that one of us didn't just decide "hey let's change this random value in a player related packet, maybe it'll make something cool happen." The heraldry patch also broke the cloak display, hence why the enemy realm always shows with LotD cloaks. It's perfectly reasonable to believe that whatever issue has been created could have broken the display as well as the cloaks, because what cloak to show and whether to show enemy players on the minimap are both aspects of the character.Seriously??? The heraldry broke it???

And we don't send info to that minimap directly. The client is determining that those players that we send should be visible on the minimap according to its own rules, and we, having to guess as we do at what the values in packets do / control, are now faced with the task of figuring out what exactly broke the players and is causing enemy players to be considered for minimap drawing.

It's not nice... you made me pee my pants of laughter. If you ever decide to try this time-tested strategy, please please do it on live: Dev servers are for sissies, and it will up the entertainment value of RoR 100-foldsazarael wrote: You can bet your ass that one of us didn't just decide "hey let's change this random value in a player related packet, maybe it'll make something cool".

Cheers and good luck sorting the packets without access to the client code - I didn't mean to sound demeaning, I could never remotely dream of recreating a server code, specially under these conditions - You guys are beasts!
Now can we talk about my lost medallions
