Quick Escape - S-Tier or Garbage?

Howdy Folks.

Recently my time solo roaming the lakes on my Witch Hunter has been tormeted by Gob Squads and constant kiting.

Thankfully, as a WH I do have a few answers to that in my kit, but it's still difficult to overcome. As a result, I decided to re-arrange my renown talents and with a heavy, heavy heart, I dropped my 4th rank in Opportunist in order to instead acquire the first rank of "Quick Escape." (Chance to gain movement speed on being hit).

Now, quickly I did learn of some caveats to it that can make it interesting to play around, such as, when it procs, you can't complete any action during the duration or otherwise the buff is stripped.

However, once I realised that Snap Shots movement speed reduction does have a short duration, I stopped spamming it and instead allowed myself to benefit from the movement speed provided by Quick Escape to massive reward, In the short time I've been using this talent, I've not had to stress that much about getting kited.

So, what's the deal? Given the current "Kiting-Meta" this seems like a must-have for any melee career, yet, I never-ever hear of it being used by anyone. Is it a matter of simply, other choices offering more benefit MORE of the time?

Definitely I need to experiment some more, but in the brief time I've played with it, my kill potential definitely feels as if it's increased.

Let me know your thoughts.

I always take it and have great results as well so if not S-tier its better than anything else you can spend that 10 rr points on.

While it may prevent you from getting kited, getting kited is rarely the issue as much as not killing someone before help arrives. It also procs on being hit, which makes it pretty unreliable. If you're out of melee range and don't have a gap closer up, a 5% chance to gain movement speed on being hit is probably not going to be enough to turn the fight around, especially since most slows negate it. Generally in a situation where someone survives your opener+gap closer enough to get distance on you again, you are either outgeared (and the movement speed boost probably won't help you overcome that), something went very wrong, or you're fighting a healer and it's time to just leave because only healers who don't use detaunt are killable.

it definetely feels more than 5% i thought it was 10% and it negates all snares is better way to think about it. + Classes with 3s melee channels, if you use that channel and QE procs, you can finish the channel without it breaking and this is a great thing espesially for Dps wp/dok (if the melee channel bug has been fixed and to some extent it is)

Hey, @Faction69, thanks for your input.

I'm certain this happens to me time-to-time, however, it's definitely not consistently what I'm faced with so I do disagree slightly with some of the points you've made.

That being said, as @Sinisterror recounts, whilst it is listed as 5% (I think anyways) it feels like it procs a lot more often, perhaps I've just been quite lucky.

Typically I find it's useful in moments where I know I'm about to engage in a 1vX scenario— times when there's a vulnerable enemy with friends nearby. It can allow either a string of kills or can aid in escape.

Is it worth the loss of the extra crit from having to drop out of the 4th rank of opportunist? Hmm... that I'm not so sure of.

I think it's probably a talent that will find it's "S-tier ranking" on classes that don't have a traditional gap closer— so tanks and DoK/WP. Especially given these classes also don't have a ranged snare, they're unlikely to strip the buff from themselves.

It's viable on tanks, who get hit with enough intensity to reliably proc it and have a problem of being left behind while everyone run away, so speed boost is welcome

On WH, you likely to die faster than the boost procs at least once.

Get in addition weapon from epic quest/ city dungeons with 10% to snare attacker on hitting you, helps a lot vs kiters as well.

Can be good on tank for kite/roam groups, probably wouldn't play it on anything else. Buff is removed if you use any ability, so it's mostly something where you are already kiting while being attacked and sometimes you get lucky procs and proc helps you get out.

If you are getting hit a lot and don't necessarily spam abilities to break it, it's incredibly good. It's also easy to fit in at 10 points. It's super strong on tanks and a little less so on everyone else.

QE is points very well spent.
I use on all tanks.
I would also use on other classes if there were 90 points to spend.
