Weaponskill parry can be ignored by high strength.

No. 2h tank does not mean DPS tank. DPS tank means DPS tank.

You can run a very defensive 2h tank, or a SnB DPS tank. Some groups used to switch it up like that to get people to ignore the wrong tank...

And there really isn't a "better" way. It's down to too many variables to say out-right.

Your taking the parry for the guard damage. Not for attacks against you. Thats the idea at least.

This. It happens more often than not that my SnB SM outright does more damage than other 2h tanks (dps, not dmg per se).

Also regarding toughness and armor for tanks; it depends on the opposition really, one night in RvR I wish I would have stacked armor tallies, the next toughness. Sadly, I slot neither :P .....

So I guess I will keep on wishing.

Aside from 2h SM/BO (even SnB) which are dealing pretty damn close to MDPS levels, the choice of 2H and shield is not of choosing to tank or DPS, but rather choosing what utlity they need to run.

Like has been said before in the thread, getting defensive levels necessary on a 2H tank to become a non target is pretty easy. You dont NEED a shied to perform the tank role in this game.


As an example, if we look at the BG the choice being made between 2H and SnB is of of...

2H
>10% crit debuff with 100% uptime tied to an AoE cone attack

SnB
>5 sec KD
>HtL
>50% block channel

The choice is pretty obvious here... The damage increase of the 2h is negligible as I think it's been pointed out before that the difference in defense lost and dps gained is counteracted pretty much between the 2 styles, if not favoring shields a bit more.

You are just making a choice of utility that you bring to the party, and like the BG many tanks suffer from one playstyle drastically out performing the other with SnB being king on all classes save for SM.
