Agreed. This issue no longer concerns me tbh, but it was definitely painful in the middle on a healer. Less so on dps .....but yeah. Even 4 hours of playing, as was suggested, is far more time than I personally have to put into a game every day grinding. Probably a lot of people that are nostalgic about this game and are playing it are of the age to be in that same boat now with families and careers.Renork wrote:I purposely log out in Altdorf and only continue my leveling once I have the rested bonus at full. I tried the quest route and it’s very slow. If the game was new, then I would understand the intent of having people quest/PQs but this game is not new. I suggested a dynamic xp bonus on PQs but was shut down. I know some other players find the leveling “super fast”, and can do it in “40 hours”, but a lot of people don’t have the time to play 10 hours a day (which is not healthy for you anyways).

I mean, who doesnt have 50 hours to spare to get a char to 40.
What are you, adults with obligations and work or what?

Re: Rested EXP Bonus
Well on a healer and my experience leveling of them, it sure seemed like it would take quite a bit longer than 50 hours. Who knows, perhaps my perception is skewed because of how mind numbingly boring it is to have done the leveling thing in this game 20+ times between live, pre character wipe, and now. And yeah, that adulting thing sucks.

Re: Rested EXP Bonus
Look, i enjoy leveling to an extent in this game and i am glad they took measures to ensure i had people to pvp with to do so. The former system had t1 populated, t2-t3 where ghostowns where chars died and were forgotten and t4 was where everyone was at.covenn wrote:..
You woould level to 12 and then you either did pve or took you months of logging sparingly and checking if there is anything going on to level up the char to the t4 bracket, you had the skaven quests in between to aleviate some pain and so on, still was awful.
So they removed rats, which i was against because i love the daoc system where going out to orvr to grind exp on mobs was profitable and made you a target for enemy gankers, that made you want to fight back when you were killed to be able to get that extra exp again, promoted fights, loved that.
Then every other way to level up fast was squashed patch after patch, if the intention was, we dont want you to level though pve, cool, put people in the lakes, i am all for it, however, the "doomsday" stuff was implemented and the brackets merged, so there is always rvr going on past t1, so what is the point now?
People who want to not touch a player till 40, can still do so, its just more boring with each patch, people who want to level through pvp like me, can do so now.
So what is the point of making the pve slower? The people you are making it slower for, they arent interested in anything but t4, so overall it feels like another of those "we oonly want who we consider worthy to get their exp because they invested x and y" and so on, that seems pulled out of some shitty Ann Ryand novel. Its all over the place in the design, for god knows what reason.
As usual is their server but that dooesnt mean i have to find their reasoning logical or productive, so hence my opinioon here.

Re: Rested EXP Bonus
I agree. I'm a rather new player, and as I am hitting lvl 30, I'm bored to death of grinding xp from pqs. I do lots of RvR, but recently Destro (at least during the time I play) gets wrecked and I am forced to hunt for solo players on the run. It's not really fun if PvE xp grind is boring when the only place worth going is lvl 40 scs and RvR. What saddens me more is that the xp gain after a few kills plummets to 100 or so per kill. 600 if lucky. I like this game but I can't really seem to follow like this when it's more grind than fun. As for armor pieces, when time comes for that, I don't mind the grind. Grinding for armor and xp are two different things.bloodi wrote:Look, i enjoy leveling to an extent in this game and i am glad they took measures to ensure i had people to pvp with to do so. The xp gain should be revamped to be more new player friendly so that more ppl play. Perhaps they should find a way to lower xp gain on alts and increase xp on main characters. I know you can make alt accounts, but I believe that xp gain should be new player friendly if the game is to expand and have more balanced combat (as in equal amount of players)
Re: Rested EXP Bonus
To be fair a rested xp rework isn't needed, but I think doubling the xp/rr you get from rvr and scenarios is. Keep the double XP through to 40. Keep the double renown through to rr40. That alleviates the grindy feeling of leveling through rvr that an alarming number of new players are reporting, but doesn't interfere with the method of leveling through pqs as it will still be faster. Plus it gets you to a point where you can wear competitive gear while still getting a feel for your class.
During the double XP/rr time I almost exclusively played my lowbies, and the time I felt in game leveling up was a lot more "worth it" -- feeling of accomplishment, time investment vs xp and rr returns all felt "right." I know the last thing I want to have happen is to frustrate new players into grindy submission.

Re: Rested EXP Bonus
4 hours a day is quite a lot of time. I don’t recall speaking in advice about how slow it is because I know it will not change anything and it creates unnecessary drama. After the way you responded and subsequently locked the xD thread (that had no flaming and just polite and educated responses) I don’t intend to provide any further feedback or suggestions :^)wargrimnir wrote:4 hours a day would get you there in less than two weeks.Renork wrote:I purposely log out in Altdorf and only continue my leveling once I have the rested bonus at full. Problem is that's 4 hours of actually playing, and not 2 hours of complaining in /ad about how slow leveling is.
