healing crit is too expensive and thanks to extra mushrooms shamans tent to have high crit so no need to overstack it. 30+ is quite decent and is doable from gear + crit tactic

some initiative here and there is also welcomed being crit should be less than 10
Mostly harmless

i don't think toughness will as usefull as perphaps wounds. Or does toughness reduce all kind of DMG, not only melee?

My advice would be to pick another class for healing.
I've been rr40 since r31 was cap. Back then the class vere functional.
The raise to 32 didn't bring anything new to the class. And neither did 35.
While dps has gone up. and dmg mitigration gone down the Shaman heals have stayed the same.
It's to a point were you really struggle to keep people alive.
You don't have the AP management to spam heals. And thats what you need to do to keep pople alive. Zealots and RP gets away with it coz they have group HoTs and Abosbrs that tick between heals. Shaman are totally reliant on burstheals. If something disrupts your casting it can go aslong as 10 secs between heals. And if your prehots have run out by then. Your group is dead.
Shaman also gets mega countereed by KOTBS and WL's
KOTB can lock your casting down for up to 30-40 seconds sometimes. With combinations of interupts and other CC's. WL pretty much nukes you in 3 attacks wich you can't really defend against due to Pounce. SW's are also a massive problem to Shamans. Ranged knockdown in combination with low armor and spammable healdebuff makes you an easy kill for them.

Shamans are in a really really bad place atm. They are by far the worst healer in the game and they basicly doesn't get anything that helps em in the future either. They have no mechanic that helps their healing. Their cast times are extremly slow and their AP management are dreadful.
It's a worst case scenario for healing tbh.

i agree that pre lvl 40 shamans are lacking. The 4th tactic slot is very important, alongside with aint done yet which is only directly healing related tactic worth sloting.
Other problem is the lack of counter to BWs rotation, with sov gear at least there is 10 sec no crit which helps alot the class to deal with BWs but that wont come soon to the table.

About the toughness stacking as i said you can stack it to the cap thanks to DSU and that stack pretty well with all detaunts that shamans had. Armor stacking atm is not so good thanks to lower lvl gear and higher armor penetration comming from the natural higer lvl than the best gear
Mostly harmless

Aint Done Yet is not a good tactic imo. It and it's mirror for AM is really horrible designed.
It's a tactic that does nothing 90% of the time. And if you do end getting use from it. then you're not getting the work done as a healer.

As for the toughness stacking I can only say no. I did alot of tests with defensive stats for Shaman on live- I also tought that with a nice 200ish toughness buff stacking toughness was the way to go.
I was wrong. Toughness is by far the worst defensive stat in the game just coz it has no secondary effect. Initive crit reduction have less dmg reduction. But when you factor in the dodge and stealth detection it becomes better. Armor is alot better then toughness. The only way to get anything good from toughness is by having lots of armor in the first place. The moast dmg mitigration I ever got from high toughness was around 300. The avarege dmg mitigration you gonna get from high toughness is around 100 dmg. Wich is gonna be something like 10%. Thats pretty much what your basic armor without pot is giving. Stacking armor is alot better. You're main problem classes deal physical dmg. But in the end i found it to not be very effective either. Wounds is by far the best defensive stat for Shamans. You can't tank anything. Don't try to. Wounds help you deal with the burst that kills you. No other stat does. If you get caught and CC'd as a Shaman it's pretty much over nomather what stats you have. If you keep distance and just take some ranged dmg from time to time Wounds are gonna help.

Aint Done Yet/Desperation is perfectly viable.

So I'm guessing everytime you're healing none of your teammates die? Ever? Cool.

U dont have to stack toughness, 1-2 +20 talismans are enough, Ive found out that since i started to use them my survability raised significantly especially in ORVR. Wounds doesnt look that useful on shaman as u get bursted really fast if u negate ur defenses, few hunderts HP wont save u anyway. I find myself doted by AM and BW quite a lot and theres the toughness comes to play as u cant cleanse those dots.

Due to the abudance of Armor debuffs and low armor lvl of shammy gear stackin an armor doesnt look like good idea. Also we got under par gear but on par weapons so u get hit for quite a lot of dmg anyway. Initiative is a good idea, but i rather boost "chance to be critted" trough RR (I have 5,3% on mine, but still have 200 ini).

Against RKD use Resolute Defense - works like charm especially against SW who spams it in first 3 skills, use it and watch him panic and then burst him down :)

Against WL - AP leech -> HP leech on pet -> Off debuff on both -> Detaunt. After hes on top of u spam AP leech (WL cant do anything w/o APs) and detaunt and dont forget to recast HP leech on pet.

Against BW - AP leech, HP leech and then spam Life Leaka dot to "bury" both leeches so he cant cleanse them. Use bubble, puddle him and burst him. Shammy vs BW is an easy win for shaman.

Would you mind explaining why you think ADY or Desperation is a viable tactic. I explained why i think it's garbage. Just responding with saying "No your wrong" basicly isn't constructive.

If someone from my team is dying and i'm able to freecast. They are 99% of the time overextending, getting caught or i'm out of healing resoursces.
