in 2008 - maybe it was changed over the years and you speak from 2 different game versions.

Re: AP Regen
The ap system never changed over the years. There was till the very end the small regeneration between two long building spells which you have removed. I just don't get why you are trying to tweak this game, while you didn't even fix all the classes yet. This just causes more and more imbalance. This game was pretty balanced at t1 on the live servers.

Nate: Right now, Action Point recovery works exactly as it was designed: You gain 25 AP per second (and we fixed the issue which heavily tied AP rates to server performance, so that fixes the second bug and means AP will be more consistent), and you do not gain AP while you're in the middle of a combat action (which fixes the first bug). Specifically, "combat actions" include building up abilities, channeling abilities, and being within the Global Cooldown. In essence, if you're using abilities back-to-back without pause, then your AP will go down, while if you stop for a brief moment, your AP will go up.

Check this vid then... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PMxBjrhyfM its not different for BW either, on about 14:34 he casts some fiery blast one after eachother... and you can see on the bar that he has a small regeneration between the casts.

Re: AP Regen
Of course but that was connected to a visual effect on you. which he doesn't have while casting. Also he is casting it several times... it is not possible to regenerate 3 times after eachother with items, they have had a cooldown.

Re: AP Regen
This "long building spells" exemption is horseshit. Spells with a build time delay AP regeneration for their cast time. Instant cast spells delay it for the GCD, 1.5 seconds. There is no special handling because you're using a long cast time ability - if you see such a thing, it's a bug in their code. It's even written very clearly in the article: If you use abilities back to back without pause, your AP goes down. If you STOP for a brief moment (i.e. one second), your AP will go up. That is how the developers wanted it to be handled.
You seem very determined to get Doombolts for 5 AP, but cannot accept that Doombolt has a 30 AP cost for a reason: it is meant to consume that value. No "I finished my cast 0.05 seconds ago so I instantly regenerate 25 AP and thus I can cast 50 Doombolts before my AP empties, ripping everything apart with my massive crit spam."

Kamenra
Crystal of Suffering
There was also a blue one, the rarest with the highest proc-chance.
King's Bounty Firecaller's Robes + 3 ap/sec.
King's Ransom Firecaller's Robes + 4 ap/sec.
The Reaper of Ualatp + 3 ap/sec.
These are by far not all possibilities of lategame/endgame ap-reg/-proc items. There where also lotd incredients (buyable for scarabs) for pots that gave a chance to restore xy ap on hit, etc. pp.
As i stated above, people are familiarized with the high ap-regeneration + procs on endgame-items and can't imagine anymore how it feels playing without these high ap-rates.

Re: AP Regen
You seem to have some personal problem with me Azarael - if so pm me instead of taking it into this topic. In T1 this change won't harm much as i have already said. But in higher Tiers you have spells that consume heavily ap like Impending Doom at the same time all Melee and Ranged DPS with Autoattacks will dominate PvP because they can actually "wait" between two spells - there still is the Autoattack that deals decent damage. For a Caster like Sorc/Magus/BW the staff has the worst Autoattack imagineable
