Hello,
I recently got my WL to 18, and had been noticing his damage numbers weren't so great. Being that I'm still leveling, I didn't want to drop a bunch of gold on the AH or on vendor gear. T2 PQs have been kinda lonely so far as well. So, I was wondering. What would the best way to get decent gear be? Should I hold off on it until end game or at least 35+? Rank 18 RR 13, in case folk are wondering.
I also decided, finally, to dive back into the game head first, and finally got my PC up and running after my move.
My apologies if this was placed in the wrong forum sub category.

Re: Gearing Question
the best gear you will get is in rvr, you can change for some medals in ic to decent set gear
and the dmg of wl is very good, maybe just in end game but he get a huge burst

Re: Gearing Question
Obliterator (t2 RvR currency), lv 15-17
Challenger (t2 SC currency), lv 15-17
Stalker (Semi-epic Quest), lv 19-23
Mayhem (PQ, Ch12ish[?]), lv 23-26
Devastator (t3 RvR currency), lv26-29
RvR influence gear; lv 19 (t2), lv 29 (t3)
Weapons mainly from SC currency (lv 20-24-29), but also Epic Quests (see wiki).
Try to keep you gear within 1-2 levels of yourself, don't slack. As long you maintain a reasonable, relevant gear level (incl. atleast greenish talismans) you'll do just fine in SCs, and RvR (whereas dps > sustain, due to bolster - play careful).

Re: Gearing Question
^Pretty good list.
Generally speaking, the best gear for any given level is linked to renown. Your renown rank is fairly low, but you should still be able to use some of the green renown gear sold at the War Quarter in Altdorf, which is cheaper I think than the gear sold at chapter merchants--the renown gear that requires medallion/emblem currencies require RR higher than you have.
You absolutely should not hold off on improving your gear--even if you're just PvE grinding straight to 40, having poor gear for your level will mean your grinding will take that much longer. In effect, you'll be paying in extra time and frustration rather than gold. And in RVR/Scenarios, the bolster effect which improves your level is based partially on the stats your gear provides, so you're going to be much less effective here too.
You should also be using talismans in every item with a slot, if you're not already. Uncommon (green) talismans are easy to make yourself or dirt cheap from any honest player, and unlike in some games with socketed gear the stat improvement is significant. This is something I see people neglect all the time as they're leveling, since they reason that the impact will be too small to be worth it or that it's somehow a waste to buy/use talismans on anything but T4 gear. If you need talismans and feel comfortable sharing your ingame name, I can mail you some strength talismans free of charge.
I'd also add that your damage may be impacted by factors other than gear, like spec (although less a factor at your level), what skills you use, what pet stance, etc. If you're planning on grinding a lot of PvE, I would recommend putting your specialization points into the Guardian tree to get the tactic Furious Mending. It allows you to kill mobs quickly with essentially no downtime if you find good spawns and juggle aggro between you and your pet.

Re: Gearing Question
More important than any gear is a dedicated group. Even you and two other friends so you have at a minimum one dps, tank and healer will afford you a massive advantage over players that are not organized.

Re: Gearing Question
Thanks Norka. I think some of my old guild (Grudge) came back. Will need to check our FB group to see. Now to hit RR 40 and do a name change.
Cheers
