Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
Why would someone ddos a server with a small community anyways. Must be some kind of salty developer revenge if you ask me
Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrᵻkɔər/) is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Greek, petra, meaning "stone", and ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
Take your pick:
"Waaa I'm banned and I think DDoSing them will get them to lift it"
"Waaa I'm banned, if I can't play no one can"
"Waaa they are closed source and I feel entitled to their work, DDoSing them will surely make them release sources"
"Waaa they are closed source, if I can't have their work for nothing, no one can"
"I'm 12 and attacking random targets gets me off"
"I'm planning to release a competing server"
Could be any of these, since no special intelligence is required on behalf of the attacker when paid DDoSing services exist.

Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
A search through these forums would more than hint about whom it might be....At least I found out rather effortlessly who have given the more probable threats and seems most ignorant and like asshats.
Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
It need not be an attacker from this community. It could be the planned operator of a rival server or it could be a skiddie who found a soft target.

Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
That is of course true, but then again there was soeone "warning" about ddo's attack could happen "if hypothetical situation A was not solved or being handled the way said ex player (I assume ex) suggested..."
Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
Sending a warning before executing such an attack is nothing but a sign of IQ < 50; it could be the person, but it's no evidence at all.killimandros wrote:That is of course true, but then again there was soeone "warning" about ddo's attack could happen "if hypothetical situation A was not solved or being handled the way said ex player (I assume ex) suggested..."
Re: Idea for DDOS defend?
I think it was a hacker that got banned. Was talking about this in my guild and I know Ddos attacks can be random but to target a small private server....seems pretty specific. I wish there was more we could do to help.

Best thing we can do right now is stop talking about that, they already had enough attention.

That wont happen. You can't change the laws of the Internets.Aisha wrote:Best thing we can do right now is stop talking about that, they already had enough attention.
