Let me tell you a tale about playing tank in scenarios. So you are yourself, a sturdy SnB tank with the will to help and the skillz to pwn. The first thing you will notice in 80% of all scenarios is that your group does not have an MDPS to guard. Guarding RDPS is always a bit weird because you are naturally a melee class as well so either you stand back and do nothing, or you risk your RDPS to die without you being able to guard them in time.

But okay, lets's say you actually have an MDPS to guard. There are 3 types of players, good MDPS, average MDPS and bad MDPS. The first type of player is so rare you won't encounter them in a scenario. The average MDPS will always go in, hit a target, and retreat. At some point they realize that suddenly they are really tanky. They start overextending and both of you die. And finally, there are the bad MDPS. They run in and just die. If you guard them you just die as well.

So for all the players that complain about guardtanks not guarding people: It's not because they are bad. They just don't want to put their life in the hands of some idiot MDPS. If you think about guardswitch you just multiply the chance of encountering incompetent players.

Small sidenote: Does the Guard CD work different on RoR than on live? It seems that way in the video

so can we suggest an alternative to guard system ?

Sometimes you want to guard pugs, but then you notice you are about to die to guard damage and haven't received a single HoT in the whole SC. At this point only thing you can do is remove guard and pull back until you recover your health (by yourself, of course).

Tanks and melee healers are also worthwhile. Had a 3-healer group with 2 melee wp a short while ago and they lived pretty long like that and actually killed something

They just don't want to put their life in the hands of some idiot MDPS. If you think about guardswitch you just multiply the chance of encountering incompetent players.

If guardswitch can work, you are actually more likely to have at least average players - otherwise you wouldn't be able to have them in range I mean 30 feet is pretty much the length of a two handed weapon for most purposes.

@lilsabin you don't really need an alternative, since a group of medium and up players makes it worthwhile to use the main point is that not only tanks need to learn to keep track of their group, but so does everyone who might need a guard

Well thats like saying that it's not for healers to heal other but themself either coz they gain nothing from it.

Since healing is not a group-only activity and it doesn't cost the healer's health, they do also healing actually increases their survivability even if their team is bad after all, the bad team will still provide other targets to be attacked.

this video was to show the people who dont know how to do it , BECAUSE LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE DONT SWITCH GUARD , they even forget they have guarded target and they need to stay at -30 feet of them for it to be effective , if the rest of you switch guard perfectly and know how to play this game like super pro , then bravo , dont feel the need to comment here , the title of the video is "HOW TO GUARD" , if u know how , then plz move along , thanks

i am not offended , and yes i am a clicker and let me tell you i am pretty good at it , if u dont click because u cant excel at it dont call the others who does it bad playstyle , loool , they were meant to be clicked at first
