read-only issue?

I was able to run the game well last night, logging in twice. Today I ran launcher and it goes to menu but does not connect,nothing shows the in a bit it freezes and when I close it a message saying critical error, application will now close. I have run as admin and the files are not in the torrent directory. THe only thing I can think of is that when I check off read only for the files it does not stay. I can go into the folder and the files will be read only again. I have windows 8 not sure if anyelse has this issue.

Apparently if there is a square in the box and not a check mark then it isn't actually read-only. I thought the same thing but looked around on other sites and people were saying a square is fine.
