Tips and Info for MMO vets new to WAR

Hello Folks,

I've played numerous MMOs over the years, but WAR was one that I passed on and by the time I realized what a good game it was...it was gone.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested on giving me an inside scoop on the things that really make WAR stand out, or just good things to know. Any currencies/gear aspirations for leveling? Any particularly good ways to level? PvP strategies? Even stuff like the general "vibe" of the game. Already I see that this is PvP focused, and the non-mirrored classes make that a total blast, but what is leveling through PvP like?

Maybe even talking about the popular things to do? For example, on PvP WoW servers a typical thing to do for fun when you just want to mess around is to attack opposing faction towns/cities/raiding leveling zones, troll players in Gadgetzan, stuff like that.

Essentially, I am just really interested in the culture of WAR if that makes sense. :D

Hello!
Warhammer Online is a PvP focused game that specializes in team play, while soloing is possibile the game is more fun on the 6v6 / 12v12/ Realm vs Realm levels.
The major difference between PvP in WAR compared to alot of MMOs is the fact that tanks are actually useful. They have defensive abilities that are EXTREMELY important to the Wahammer dynamic. Besides crowd control, tanks have three important abilities: Guard, Taunt, and Challenge.

Guard is a buff that allows you to take 50% of the damage before mitigation of your guarded target, provided you are within range, this damage can be blocked or parried as well! What this means is that just by hanging near your guard target you can increase their survivabilty without suffering too much for it.
Taunt is an ability that allows a tank to do 30% more damage unless the taunted person attacks you thrice. Challenge works in the same vein except it is an AoE effect and reduces the opponents damage output. This means that unless you are being attacked your opponent is doing less damage.

Each class is different, and while there are parallels found on the opposite realm they wont have the exact same skills, meaning each realm is a unique blend of classes and races and works in tangent with each other differently.

Another major element of the game is collision, where you are on the battlefield matters, this means that if you want a to prevent the enemy from attacking a keep you can bar their pass with tank shield walls! This really brings in an immersive element.

Many classes have detaunts as well, this will allow a character to take 50% less damage from any player effected by the detaunt, an absolute must use tool!

As for tips, learn how to strafe, use hotkeys, and learn your class. Avoid Keyboard turning and clicking.

As for Warhammer Culture, most people are here because of the Warhammer aesthetic, the PvP, and a combination of both. Everyone is pretty friendly as we are a community for a defunct official game. We are all play-testers as much as we are players since the game is in an Alpha state. Because of this warrior culture, most players will poke fun at each other, via trolling, sarcasm or even forum pvp, most is in good fun. Even on live our online community is the least vile of any MMO i have seen.

Warhammer online is also not as gear dependant as other games, while gear is as important, it wont carry you to victory. Party composition, communication/ Team work, and personal skill are all large factors into whether you will be successful or not. RoR-proper is even less gear dependant then on live as mostly everyone at the moment has the same gear.

Spirit of War is a truly , honest and true... hate between destro and order:)
No truce, no "unite for repell a greater evil" quest ..... we just want to kill enemies form first to last :D
No other games have such spirit.

You could use a special bug to get there on live. I guess it's not bannable unless you start killing people from there.
