Error Pop up window

Post#1 » Mon Feb 08, 2016 9:11 pm

Hello,

Newbie trying to get started. couldn't find this error via search or common problems, hoping someone can help!

Downloaded client, and ROR launcher, placed ROR launcher beside WAR.exe. Launcher opens fine. But when I hit connect a pop up error message is desplayed. The message states the below error:

"Error starting: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:\age of reckoning\Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning\WAR.exe' is denied.
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy, Boolean useLongPath, Boolean checkHost)
at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy)
at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode)
at RoRLauncher.Client.patchExe()
at RoRLauncher.Client.Handle(PacketIn packet)"

Interesting, because when I search the forums for the term

I get around 35 pages of search results. My being an asshole aside, if you downloaded via Torrent, make sure the game folder is not still in the download location. Then Right-click the whole folder, open Properties, and uncheck the "read-only" box. Apply the change to all sub-folders and files.
