I think this problem is well known to everyone but I don't see it in the tracker.
The problem is that it is possible to still shoot through walls/doors/trees/etc. or out of your range when you started casting on target that is in your los. Now this is really weird but as I haven't play the retail I was wondering if it worked like that in retail as well?
Usually that is tricky topic because latency between client and server make it really hard to go around it. In wow for example there was like a treshold of casting time were the skill always launched. I mean if something has spellcasting time around 2s getting it to 1.8 would succeed but if target disappeared after channeling for 1s you would get message that the target is out of side.
Here I find myself very often healing people who are not even near me (probably trough walls) or stuff hitting me out of nowhere (also probably trough the walls). I noticed that if I start casting something at someone it doesn't matter if he is in my los as long as he was in my los when started casting. Should this be reported or this is known topic?

Wasn't it like that on live too?
Re: Shooting/casting through walls/obstacles or out of range
I'm pretty sure this is how it was on live. I also get ability buildup interrupted all the time, when LoS is broken or the target moves out of range. It happens more often than not, especially with LoS.

This makes every channeled skill sooooooooooooooo op.
Re: Shooting/casting through walls/obstacles or out of range
ranged channeling on ror work better than in live, they also break on los but it happen less frequently or it take them longer must be a question of checks +

Live only had a LoS check at the start of casting, I believe. We have one at the start, and halfway through.
If I'm still up to date on what the source code team is doing, Pets don't currently obey LoS, but that is coming in the near future.

Re: Shooting/casting through walls/obstacles or out of range
I am very often hit with sh's arrow volley, magus' lazor and shaman's life leaka thgough obstacles or when out of range. Very often I am hit with channeled spell and while being hit cannot hit back as the target is unseen. Works both ways, often I hit someone out of my range.
Worst thing is many players take advantage of it hidding behind trees' roots in tor anroc (most common use of it).

No idea then that live isn't around anymoreTesq wrote:ranged channeling on ror work better than in live

This one is ok. Losing your cast progress when your target moves out of range (and they do it pretty often when you play a bw) is the most annoying thing ever. Good chance you won't be able to land a single 3sec cast if the able-to-finish-cast-even-when-target-moved-out-of-los issue gets "fixed".vove wrote:out of your range when you started casting on target that is in your los

It's far away from being ok. If you start channeling 5s spell at someone and even though he's not in your range for 4 seconds you shouldn't be able to keep on damaging him. You should start channeling/casting at a distance that gives you most dps. Not start channeling at max range and still hit with entire spell.Nishka wrote:This one is ok. With your bw example same thing. Why should someone be penalized for your long casts? I would love to be able to use environment to most of my advantage, hiding from ranged enemies, etc. Being hit with everything because dpsers don't know how to play the game and in the end it has to be easier for them is a lousy argument in my opinion. Why there would be so many different maps if as well you could play on a flat land with no objects in it at all?
And one more thing. As I am being hit with everything even though enemies don't have me in sight I struggle with healing ppl who hide behind the BOs flagpole which renders them out of sight (but they are 5cm away from me). Oh dear

if that's how it work it need to check more often XDGenisaurus wrote:Live only had a LoS check at the start of casting, I believe. We have one at the start, and halfway through.

like every 20% of the cast that would be better. Anyway i usually gone in los and channeling ista stop on live. It was a client side check because you couldn't shoot at ppl while they were in los but can currently channeling in most of times; maybe there is something more to discover.
