hmmm how could we add that :-P
add a 3rd and 4th realm and assign both duellist to 3rd and 4th( or simple momentary switch the challenger to opposite realm), being not attackable from order/destru realm and stop fighting when life arrive to 5%.
Plus not able to duel in rvr area ( or only able to duel in ic/Dorf and nto during city siege)

how about having a dueling event rather than dueling any time you want. Almost like a "best of class" championship.. so either WE vs WE or instead of that MDPS vs MDPS.

Personally i always wondered who would come out on top between a few guys.. ie.. larrison vs Thorindor(ir)...

probably not that easy to implement, and would need to avoid tanky tank vs tanky tank.. no-one would have the patience to watch that.

anyway, that's just my 2 satang
Always hopeful of finding a DPS AM guild.. if anyone ever sees one, with low entrance standards, please let me know..

sure as long as you gain 0 renown for killing your buddies

I don't know why some people are so upset about duels.
Duels are no renown farming, it's a honorable fight to decide who is the better player once and for all!
Some duellists doesn't even kill each other on the (in-)official duell spots. If the healthpoint difference was to big, there was a clear winner even without the kill (enemies life spared = even more honor :D ). But sometimes i just watched the duels (as a lot of the players there).
The duell events (on the german server i played) were over, when mythic introduced the LotD soulweapon crap.
I remember short after the first dok came back from the desert with his new "shiny" wooden swords, there was no real duelling anymore.

I think it's a false conclusion, that players that want to duell from time to time hurt the mass-pvp. I think most of them are not interested in running around from spot a -> spot b in large warbands filled with random players.

I would never duell some random jerk, just because there is the possibility per /duell.
There were some rules, on the official duell spots and you can't count on that in random duels:
- no buff-pots
- no "special" items, just weapons and armor (e.g. no cloaks that remove debuffs, etc.)
- no buffs/skills from other players, only the own playerskill(s)

Duelling the enemy is against Warhammer lore. You fight your sworn deadly enemy, there is no honour, there is only you or them. If you fall, your family dies, your country burns, your beer keg gets stolen. "Enemy life spared?! Hans, Gunther, take the traitor outside and burn him! NOW!"

Every duelling person reduces possibility of such a person joining RvR lake. Because he's busy now.

Duelling your friend will take considerable devs time. My bold estimation is that most of us would prefer to see all skills, mechanics, tactics, morals (everyone should behave!) implemented properly, then doors, then T2 etc.

And yes, even our RP server had tons of people farming each other for RR under coverage of "we duel".

I see, this is a valid point. :D

I can only speak of the server i played on and i never saw any renown farming on the duel spots. I caught two players once at a bo, that made such "duels" you mean. But the official duel spots were clean and imo there is much more renown gain in actual pvping, rather then waiting ~15 minutes (or more) on the duel spot.

I don't want to suggest that the devs waste their precious time on such a tiny feature most people wouldn't even use/recognise.
I just had a feeling, that there is some prejudgment and misunderstanding on the "real dueling" going on.

They need no additional dev time for duels between opposing realms. Just fix the combat, keep the chat as it is and all fine. :D
Dying is no option.

I don't get why soo much hate on duels
1)it's not like from time to time duels will hurt RvR(in every pvp MMO people's priorities are still bg(scenario)>arena>duels)
2)Every person with an iq over 70 will understand that pvp is not balance around 1vs1,people duels for improving their skills/fun/waiting for time to pass while you are in an q etc.
3)it's not against the Lore,in fact in every war (from cruciades to WW II)people would wrestle, would organise friendly fight/competition to boost their moral

For me the fact that you coudn't duel was a major disappoiment(it may sound stupid, but it was one of the things why i dropped WaR).As a guy who love pvp,i think a game focused on pvp should have all tipe of pvp avaible(from city sieges,RvR,6v6 Ironclad and even duels-Order vs Chaos duels AND duels between friends from the same faction)

Wrong. Winning a duel does not make you the better player in WAR. It's how you perform in group vs group and wb vs wb. I knew a LOT of good duelers who sucked ass when playing in a party.

You'd be surprised how many people here don't have an IQ over 70.
