Change item appearence

Hey
I have a question about changing the appearence of the gear. So I know how to do it the ordinary way- u have gear in bag and put in character gear slot.
BUT, what if u wanna check if an item in auction house is good looking on your character, but dont wanna throw away gold before u know it has the right appearence.
Is it possible?

no, you can only view an item if you own it yourself, spot it on another player, or find a picture of it somewhere outside of the game, like here for example: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=37911
