Trying to get into the game, looking for any advice and pointers. Also websites to look at for information, would be very helpful. Thanks!

Well the thing is in my personal opinion all classes have a level of dept to them that you need to understand to preform well not only of that individual classes strengths and weaknesses but also the archtypes role like if your a tank knowing the importance of certian things like floating guard and what not

Having said that....of all the classes in war I feel that sword master and black orc have the simplest mechanics with the plan/balance system, and are relatively durable granted their not "competitive" as other tanks in their faction but their good for learning the game

I'd almost go along the same lines as Cory, only I would recommend Knight/Chosen, they seem to be more useful in groups, so you may get slightly more invites.

I'd agree on the useful part but I think that they have a higher skill floor and ceiling than blorc/sm and I thought it might be better to start him off with something eaiser

i would agree if this were live, but in RoR you don't need to twist auras so i'd say knight/chosen are definitely more newbie-friendly atm

knight is hands down the easiest class to play, and be very effective at the same time.

This game isn't mechanically hard, the main thing I think that separates a good player from a bad one is positioning and risk management. The reason I recommend knight is, tanks in general are much more forgiving in terms of "bad positioning" and the auras and tactics it has makes you a powerhouse even if you just stand around and AFK while following your guardee.

The easiest DPS to play is BW/Sorc, very easy and straight forward itemization, build, and rotations. The only thing is you need to have your positioning down pat, and know what situations you should be getting yourself into.

Healer wise, DoK/WP when built properly are impossible to kill without an assist train. Fun wise AM/Shaman are way up there.

Choppa/slayer for Melee range DPS.
Chosen/kotbs as tank class.
Dok/warrior priest as healer.
Shadow warrior/squig herder as rdps.
Maybe bright wizard/sorc(3-4 button rotation in T1) but you have to keep an eye on your health bar ;-)

All thise classes are easy to manage at the start.

If you plan to level doing some PVE aswell as PVP I would suggest a healing or tank class simply because of survivability.

Ask in advice chat for help - ignore childish crap that may be thrown your way - there are alot of people that will give sound advice :)

Welcome to RoR, I always find it awesome when people who never played WAR when it was live come to RoR :))
