So i've seen a few threads about this bug going around after new patch 15/8. I will make this thread cause i have the bug aswell, and i'd like to see some sort of dev responses. I will keep this bumped.
Now i did manage to login a few times during friday, but i was off due to this all weekend pretty much, still am.
So to explain the issue: Login from launcher works fine, game loads in, right before character screen window that is supposed to say "Logging in" etc is empty, and after a few seconds "Authentication failed -- Application will now terminate".

It has nothing to do with server being full from what i've gathered, have had this issue for some days now. Tried logging in when server was lower populated aswell, remains.

I know it is silly, but can you reset your password to some simple, all lower case password and try logging in again?
Also, try opening ports
UDP port 1024-65535
TCP port 8040-8049
TCP port 10622
Or disabling your Firewall (Router's one as well if the main one won't work).
The same issue existed on live as well, and the workaround was to either portfoward for some or change the password.
Also, try HotSpot from the post below.

Forwarded the ports you suggested, no improvement.
Disabled firewall on router and windows, no improvement.
Downloaded and tried, i didnt see any improvement. Will keep messing around with this program.

Make sure to choose a UK server within the Hotspot.
