Did not receive activation email, needed to choose different username

My private domain hoster sadly does not feature a 'whitelist' feature and I could not receive the activation email and had to choose another username.

Now I wanted to ask if it is possible to change the associated email of the inactivated account and maybe get my username back?

Or in different words: get the username I initially chose.
