Understanding Zone Flipping and BO Capping.

Hi all, I was talking with some players about reading up information about capping and RvRing as the title suggests. From what I was told this server uses a different ruleset from the launch servers so any info outside of this site would be outdated. I was curious if there was a guide on how the phases for zone capping worked and what the lock/unlock of BO's along with timers meant as well as how "ticks" work along with zone "locks" (the big lewt and exp). I tried poking around in the forums here and im assuming in blind so thanks in advance to anyone that could give me some insight on how this works.

Well, all I know is, at some point some keyboard Napolean will yell out: "a PQ will flip this."

The intial live system weren't meant for chasing zone locks, it was meant to reward the realm that performed good. Specific scenario were tied to specific zone. Example, doing Battle for Praag would contribute to a point pool in the Praag zone, same as people doing PQ's in Praag would also increase the VP points in that area. Dominating a tier lower in the same pairing would also increase the points.
Since gaining a zone flips was the biggest chunk of renown you could get people started to systematic chasing zone flips. Wich eventually turned ORVR to "the chase for the zone flips"

Since Zone locks became the goal of the game people started to see ways to expliot the system
The oposing realm could basicly just stop quing for Battle for Praag and start to PVE farm PQ to deny the other realm zone flips without showing up in the lakes, This is when the term doorhammer was coined. And the whole realm could just drop down a tier (if ORVR server). This meant that there was noone for anyone to fight in ORVR.
Later they added so that all SC's in that tiers generated VP to all parings wich made it so people would need to stop quing at all to prevent the other realm from flipping. Wich later they added: if the other realm didn't que for 15min your realm got the SC vp's anyway.

The orginal design of flipping zone wasn't something that were designed to be chased but rewarding the realm that does good in that specific pairing. Having zone flips be the goal of ORVR made the game alot more linear and not what the devs had in mind intentionally. They just wanted a WAR that would go on and on and in the case if one side totally dominated everything you would get a City Seige maybe once or twice every 6month. Not 6 times a day as it ended up enevtually.
