I feel like Choppas suffer from "Engi-syndrome" to an extent. Both classes attract a lot of players whom have fun through methods other than being the top competitor on the server: roleplaying, etc. So that's why we get a lot of tinker/grenadier engis, when rifleman is probably the better spec for actually killing people, and why we get a lot of choppas focused on their faux-cockney nonsense speech rather than actually killing people down with...whatever buttons they press besides "git to da choppa!" outside a flag in Ekrund.
Compare Engis to Magus, which has a number of players more dedicated to being a good rdps (Nuclearpotato, Riftbeardz, Technomork to some extent, and so on) and while those Engis are having fun in their own way, they're not necessarily playing the class to the fullest in terms of bursting down targets. Similarly, compare your average semi-RPing Choppa to some of the Witch Elves and Marauders on destro (Sotora, Nicelook, Mieles, Inikah) and you see that while everyone's having some kind of fun, you're way less likely to see a marauder or a witch elf RPing like that, and so they're a bit more focused on killing targets and not dying than they are on RPing a certain sort of character.
Not to say there aren't good choppas (Ripgor, Chopmaster both come to mind) but the orc/goblin classes attract RPers, similar to the Dwarf classes (makes sense, both factions have rather dedicated fanbases in the table-top, and active light-RP guilds on RoR) and so sometimes you see them playing in ways that make less sense to more competitively minded players.
