Devastator and Duelist have very good spirit resistance. But, Sorcerers also hit with Corp damage with many skills (Chillwind, Ice spikes and Absorb Vitality - all this skill are from dot spec line - the most popular ever). So in this case maybe reasonable after cap of Spirit resistance to increase also Corp.
But! Sorc and Magus can reduce target Spirit resist - and that is a reason to have an overcap.
Mainly if you are focused by Sorc who was full Dark Magic from great distance - no resists will help you... Only try to run, drink potions and become indivisible.
WH in devastator has a very low toughness - so even with high resist damage is very high.

Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
I normally mix sets getting 2 str bonus, and pick from them the better stat, resist etc. could also drop a resist pot , having an extra 80 str is from potion nice, but not that worried about it ,
I don`t go glasscannon either, like many that slot all strength tails and have no hp. you may get an extra 100 str. but i`d rather have an extra 50 str, and 800 hp. dead wh doesn`t do any damage

Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
Isnt it better do to 3 piece stalk with 2 piece duel for double str bonus?

Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
Playing WH for anything other then solo ganking your going to be reliant on your group and you should know now that WH is the most mediocre of the mdps order can field your damage has to much down time and your debuffs won't last very long without at least 2 other hex/ailment based classes in your group.
Khorlar, Thorvold, Sjohgar, Anareth, Toldavf, Hartwin, Gotrin and others -_-

I think it's' how much you value crit over damage when it comes to these gear templates. I recently changed my line of thinking when looking at my sorc. Assuming the gear bonuses are similar on WH you have to ask yourself how valuable is 7% crit over roughly 10 damage bonus. On WH where you making a living off burst damage, maybe you are right double strength is better. If you get a guy to 5% and then he gets saved, or gets away, you will hate yourself. But if the 7% crit comes in on even 1 auto attack, you are profiting over strength immediately.TenTonHammer wrote:Isnt it better do to 3 piece stalk with 2 piece duel for double str bonus?
The issue with double set bonuses, is you don't get any use out of armor piece number 1. So if you have 2 armor sets in affect, you essentialy have 2 pieces of gear that are giving you nothing. But, if you go 4 piece devastator, you only have 1 piece not producing a bonus. Essentially you can look at the resist bonus as the free stat you wouldn't normally have. In addition to the free spirit resists (translates to over 20-25% damage reduction from sorcs etc, pretty damn good), you can get away with only 4 pieces for the 5% and then wear the empire helm which should be another 2% crit. so 7 in total.
Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
crit>str at least imo. To those saying WH are mediocre and relent on group, that is all mdps. An unguarded mdps in the pit vs a premade is a dead mdps. At least on a WH i can solo by stealthing and attacking backlines. Are the two other mdps better than WH currently? Yes Imo, but that fixes itself in t4 when we can finish specing and get the last of our defensive tools.Mez wrote:I think it's' how much you value crit over damage when it comes to these gear templates. Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
except i wouldnt take Van Hortsmens, abilites get a lvl from points not spent on a ability or tactic so the extra point just goes into the tree for another lvl to torment. And yes i am talking about RB+shroud spec vs WE gank spec (oyk/puncture spec). In group spec (the one you linked for WH, and Witchbrew/IP/HS spec for WE) I find WE to be a bit more survivable due to the kitey nature that Witchbrew and Wracking Pains lends to the class as well as Elixir of Cauldron being in the IP tree for the disrupt.TenTonHammer wrote:Tklees you always said that WH was more surviveable than WE and stuff

bit of a tangent here but, so this is not the WE gank spec?

Re: [Witch Hunter] Need help with some builds for Witch Hunt
Both are useful. PA and elixir of insane power are what make the gank spec IMO. Some people go sac stab some go oyk. But you shouldn't spec two elixirs. If you use one both go on CD. Just take insane power IMO. And that lets you get to masterful trechary in second specTenTonHammer wrote:bit of a tangent here but, so this is not the WE gank spec?
