Not really a big deal at all for a 50% mount... You're using it for what a few weeks at most? A lot less if you're serious about getting 40.
By your statement am i to assume that the 60% mounts are kinda mandatory for rank 40 RVR?

Actually, same question regarding the Dark Bay coloration of unarmored horse I've seen standing around at the stables in the Altdorf war quarter. Never seen anyone with the Dark Bay horsie, so that one I figured early on was MIA, but now I'm curious, LOL.
