In that post they shifted accepting money to the hoster. This is why they are getting sued as well. The hoster is basically making money off the wow server. Taking money AT ALL for ANY REASON will get you sued. Does not matter if its for upkeep or to pay for hosting.

Huh, scapegaming server was the best private one back in the day, good times indeed. I remember they sold custom orange gear for $ from 50 to 5k.

I see. Personally still cant accept the logic. In my mind I cant compare player donations with this: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Emp ... ent/Salary

But I understand what you say. Damn the terms of law.

Never played on Nostalrius but did play on the Feenix and Kronos servers. A real shame for the players more than anyone as anyone who played Vanilla knows how long it takes to go from level 1 to mc attuned

blizzard still has a subscription modell with wow, they clearly can argue they lose money to a free private server. totally different situation then with ror.

Makes one truly wonder how much it costs to run RoR.

the costs are neglible compared to the working time invested into the game by our overlords.

ror case is quite different

-war is not a live game.
-everything is not EA property but gw according to their ip contract.
-there isn't other games with the old ip of fantasy going on appart total war which is a buy to play game which is not in competition with ror that is a mmorpg
-ror dev not takign money.

Nolstarius was breaking the exact same laws before they started accepting money, as they were after. Breaking those laws is what got them shut down, accepting money is just what got the lawyers' attention. The differences are only things that might make us attract less attention.
