Upgrade from Dominator Gear

I am a returning player after taking a break for around 6-10 months, with a L40 Squig Herder, RR41. I have completely changed my spec to melee after reading how ranged is subpar in PvP and melee (squig form) is the way forward now for this class. When I stopped playing I had full Dominator gear with ballistic skill talis, and some decent accessories. I'm wondering where to go from here in regards to improving my gear? I have some Conqueror Meds so can work on obtaining the Conq set, will this be worth the effort or is there a better set to aim for? I'm mainly just going to be doing RvR and Scenarios on this character.
