New/Returning player looking for class advice

Hello,

I just discovered this was a thing and am super excited. I have so many fond memories of this game, and am excited to have a chance to play again. With that said, I spent a few minutes reading through the forums and realized how little of the class mechanics I remember, as opposed to the overall feel and PvP concepts.

I used to main a DoK, and while I loved the concept of them, and originally felt like they were decent, I remember later feeling they were under-powered (or at least my build) and 2nd choice for grouping. I don't recall ever winning in a 1v1 global PvP contest unless the person was significantly lower than me, and while I seem to recall being able to solo some types of mobs that my brother's character could not, it could take extremely long times to do this. I recall rolling a BO and finding the leveling content trivial and extremely fast paced in comparison, leading to much of falling out of love with my main and the game.

I also understand some changes in class balance may have occurred since I stopped playing and/or the game made a return, so please correct any misunderstandings I may have.

Understanding I'll have to relearn almost everything, I figured I would ask for advice on which classes are fun or in demand. I traditionally enjoy playing a healer or tank over generic DPS, but I won't rule anything out. I probably enjoy PvE more than PvP, but I also loved how this game combined them, and do not want to do anything that cannot perform in both areas. If things work out, I may have 1-2 friends to regularly group with, or join a guild, so I'm not opposed to taking synergy into account.

I appreciate any helpful input and look forward to returning to some side of the battlefield soon.

I find Ironbreaker to be incredibly fun to play. It takes some learning though because of ability glut. Black orc is very fun and a bit simpler.

Zealot/RP are excellent at what they do, but the gameplay is pretty damn boring outside of picking a stagger target.

Heals and tanks are always needed.
Fley - Zealot Domoarigobbo - Shaman
Squid - Squig Squit - B.O.
