Yes and no. That gear had no renown requirement, so a lvl 40 rr40 character with LotD backpiece + jewel + pocket items + weapon w/talismans + Darkpromise/Tyrant gear was able to compete against rr70-80 characters in Sov (not so much against rr90-100 though, but still helped a ton).Mez wrote:All that stuff just creates a gear gap, and crutches so you can spec glass cannon and destroy lowbie zergs. WIth the fragile state of the feels on RoR, I would leave it all out. There's barely competition on as it is, at least in US times.
LotD gear helped closing the gap between low rr players and high rr ones. Granted, it also widened the gap between low rr players with those items and low rr players without them (specially in T3; it was OP there). But nothing is perfect.
So basically it was good and bad, depending on how you looked at it and which players you were comparing. My suggestion would be to keep all those items, but make them usable at level 40 (in other words, only in T4 and not in T3).
If you are worried about high RR characters using this gear, maybe we could put a condition on it. Something like "requires being under RR80". Only on those items that are considered OP though (+crit talismans, for example).
(im just desperately trying to think of a way to bring back LotD AND make it still attractive for level capped players without it being too gamebreaking for lowbies; i loved that place and it would suck not seeing it implemented in RoR
