They aren't viable?
Highest sustained damage in the game with modest burst potential.
Polar opposite of sorc and bw with the highest burst damage in the game but low sustained damage

Yeah and needs to be specced, while the sorc one is free.Penril wrote: It is instant. They already have a ranged KD. KD + instant snare gives them too much mobility and apparently SW/SHs should be the most mobile rdps while BW/Sorc do insane damage and Magus/Engies do... something.
Sorc's ranged snare requires the target to be cursed AND it has a 2 sec cast time. Lasts 5 secs while BW lasts 6 (if channeled).
Giving Magus/Engie a ranged snare instead of their lol melee one would be a welcomed change.
Also the sorc one becomes part of the calamity burst rotation at high level, thanks to it being spirit damage and not corporeal like doombolt, the 1 sec cast time also helps.
If anything i would give you that last tick should not give the snare or that it should not snare for 3 secs at a time (yeah it gives you 3 snare debuffs the last one just when the channel ends) it should just drop the snare as soon as you drop the channel.
But really, sorc vs bw is one of the most balanced archetypes for everyone except you it seems.
Thats exactly why they arent viable and why i dont understand most of the suggestions here.Landaren wrote:They aren't viable?

Modest burst potential is not viable and ****, highest sustained damage is complete garbage when healers can outheal it easily.
BW/Sorc are immolation/calamity beasts, built around the burst window making healers unable to heal it in short little time, SH/SW are not about mobility in most cases, is the burst what makes them viable.
Its not a **** rocket science to find that when the other 4 ranged archetypes are relying on burst to do anything what engi and magus need is burst to be competitive.
That or a total rework of hhow the game works.

Damage wise? Yes, they are really well balanced. But BW has self cleanse, ranged KD and instant snare. That's 3 incredibly useful skills for a squishy class like Bw, which Sorc doesn't have access to.bloodi wrote:Yeah and needs to be specced, while the sorc one is free.Penril wrote: It is instant. As for their ranged snare needing to be specced, that point is moot since Withering Heat is part of a BWs rotation as well (equivalent to Hand of Ruin, but with a snare on top of it).
But this thread is about Magus/Engi. We can dicuss Sorc/BW somewhere else. My suggestion was simply removing one of the BW's utility toys and giving it to Engies (among other suggestions).

Re: Rift and Magnet
This is what "highest sustained damage" looks like:

Magus did 4 times the damage of the WL Shauril, yet the WL had 5 times more DBs.

No Penril, damage wise they are not balanced, sorc wins, utility wise are not balanced, Bw wins.Penril wrote: Damage wise? Yes, they are really well balanced. Thats why thhey are balanced, i dont know how you got on your head that BW is on top and is able to do the same damage as sorc but he is not, he is behind in damage and it only gets worse at rank 40.
And having to spec it is not a moot point, there is no snare for the BW on a bomb build, there is for Sorc, just like there is free snare for everyone on destruction in the dok covenant.
And sure, we can discuss it somewhere else but you are the one who suddenly proposed this out of nowhere because somehow Bws have to give something to the poor engies but Sorcs can tell magus to **** off.
