Is there some sort of public Teamspeak for this server? Talking to the veterans could be incredibly useful, if they don't mind helping a beginner out.

You can also decide what kind of abuse do you prefer to take:

"U NO GUARD ME?! U NO DIE FOR ME WHILE I HAVE FUN!?" - you're tank! You decide who deserves to take the damage.
"U NO HEAL! STUPID HEALER! WHAT IZ LOS?!" - you're healer! You decide if they die and when they die.
"STUPID FACEROLLER HITTING TANKS ALL THE GAME AND DYING IN 2 HITS!!!" - you're DPS! You have fun and demand that the others heal and guard you while you enjoy the game.

the standerd targeting circle just highlights the circle around the base of the character, target ring adds these 2 red circles around the sides of your target to make them stand out more like shown in this image:

if its an ally you target it turns green insted of of red

Oh, thats useful.

I've read the entries on the various crafting professions.
You can only have one gathering and one producing one, right (I'd prefer to pick two gathering ones, but oh well)? Anything you would recommend?
I would like to stay clear from early gold sinks (like Enchanting in WoW), which aren't recommended for first characters or anything requireing too much effort in hunting down resources and being reliant on other professions.

Take Cultivating and Apo. You just need to buy a handful of seeds and the flasks to make pots. Cheap , easy and fast to level.

And I guess potions are always nice to have.
Scavenging doesn't sound bad either, since that would at least prevent me from racking my brain over how much a certain item is worth, which is a common problem if you are unfamiliar with an MMO.

Scavenging gives you extra loot , no common items. This extra loot you need to convert into talisman. Basically Gems with stats that boost an item if you slot it into. But that needs you to constantly level it on adequate mobs. Culti can be done everywhere and at any time

As long as you play any tank or any healer and do the role you will be forever loved.

This is 2016. Why do the devs allow the magus to continue to be overpowered?

Wrong word, I actually mean salvaging. Sorry.

Sounds good, but how does tanking work in such a PvP focused game anyway?
