I wouldn't say the drop rate is too low. I saw maybe 50 drop yesterday myself in about 2 hours of play. That's fine, the problem tends to be RNG luck when it comes to rolling for them. You can play all week and win nothing, or you can get 20 in an hour.

On live there were guaranteed ways to get medals. Via zone locks, keep PQ's, and so on.

The dev's are already addressing this with the new quests.

Giving a medal reward for the keep defense quests might motivate people, if they could fix the kill tracking, so you have to get kills at the keeps.

But when people are grinding, and zerging up. They want to be efficient in their grinding. It takes less time, and less effort to take an empty keep, than a defended one, they are going to do what's easiest and faster to get their RP's when in a large group environment. This is a core fundamental issue that plagues every game with open world pvp / RvR / WvW. If you want to stop people beating on empty keeps, you need to motivate and give people incentive for defending those keeps.

On live they had some real juicy defense ticks. Big renown tick after big fights for defenders, scaled with AAO. Think it got removed when they swapped to the bullshit runner system. I seem to recall getting 7-8k ticks in T4 with AAO.

What's about def of BO? Sometimes good defendable BOs like taverns generate fiery clashes epsecially when there are premade WBs.
Regardless we need a better method of getting more medals because the drop rate atm is TOO low, I've spend 8 hours in sc and RVR over 2 days and only got 4 medals. It sucks.
Seriously? Devs made t3 farm quest for making more medals what do you need else?

thus, inaddition to the 150 kills..2 keeps have to be taken as well. this makes rvr required. I love this idea.

I think this could get the orvr rolling.
If that is what you intended by your response I whole heartedly agree that this quest idea is a terrific one.
yes that was my point, the kill quest it's a problem cos totaly move the population where kill are faster to obtain---> sc, this make even less ppl want to open rvr.
If there is no population def will not occur cos it grant no/lesser rewards. When if you have to cap a keep and you cant cos ppl are zerg you try to organize a def , ask ppl if they also need a keep, form wb, slow enemys etc. Until you can attack their keep and vice versa the attackers now def etc.
It can be even use for the quest "defend a keep" now that i think about it. That would directly solve the problem. Just the ratio need to be low or it became a def farm-fest. And the quest need to be taken in the wc or ppl will tank wall and farm quest via keep lord.
Appart from rewards problems t2-t3 have really no meaning in being loose or being conquered differently from t4, that way my point in the first page. In t4 when you loose keep/zone that's mean that your opponent is more near to your capital and this mean sovereign for him, so something you want avoid at all cost. This dont apply for t2-t3 and so we don't bother with def. When i go def i always hope to have a nice farm insted.

Ade wrote:There is one other change I would propose, change scenarios. I think we can all be honest and just say that scenarios are used for 2 things, farming for a weapon, and for premades its for flopping your manhood out and acting like a big shot.

I would propose the removal of soldier medallions from scenarios, as well as the new quests to be void while inside, that way people will not just farm scenarios in order to get the medallions that should only be attained from ORvR.

I believe that a change like this combined with the keep defence changes would make people more active in the lakes, but hey, maybe we are just the one guild that thinks scenarios are a bane to the game.
i play scenarios cause they are fun, sometimes a challenge and its the best way to teamplay. i give a **** about rewards...

this is the most important thing: RVR needs to be FUN then people will play regardless of rewards.

@tiggo for me rvr is fun and i do it when i dont need to farm something which sc are totally better for atm, then if you find fun sc this is not your problem so you will still find them fun anyway :)

@ade it was alredy asked to keep meddalions out of sc but seems the voice didn't get heard.

:P

it was always something ppl bother, most player avoid sc cos they were forced to play x min against premade so they put sc weapon to incitive the ppl to play sc, then all rolled in sc cos it was the faster way to farm other stuff.
It would be really cool have different stuff so that ppl do both and all have a complete experience in reality.

Has it been said already? i may have missed it. but the most logical tweak to achieve the issue in this thread of trying to motivate people to be active in orvr, would be to:
1) Add kill quest same as one that was just added but make it ORVR kills only. (SC kills don't count).
2) change recent kill quest that was implemented to SC kills only. (ORVR kills don't count).
3) balance out the number of kills required for each quest so that on average play time they are the same speed/time to complete.
4) Add 2 Medallions for zone lock, not keep take. so the underdogs can stealth take BO's to stop zone locks, forcing the zerg to move around and give other people chance to get in keeps to defend the next wave of attack, etc, etc.

4)---> it would even work better if had a VP system instead the current one, if ppl just cap and lock flags you canno't really block a keep siege :/

With a vp system you could had reward the zone lock, as steal flags and slow enemy would had make zone harder to lock and gank would had happen much more than in this system which enphasizes more the" 1 blob cap all then move to keep " way.
