i've read and seen many complaints about the "power" discrepancy between lvl 12's entering T2 and the level 26 players that are capped and sitting in T2.
What I am having a hard time understanding is - why does this matter if bolster is working? The idea of bolster, at least what I thought the idea was, is that if you are level 12 you will have the same stats as a level 26 upon entering the t2 RvR lakes. You wont have all the abilities yet, but stats wise - you will be comparable.
To me, if this was in place, the level or power gap wouldn't be an issue.
So my question is - does bolster not work? It says I'm getting bolstered... is it not actually working?

Heh heh, give it a shot. Enter t2 at level 12 and let that level 26 rdps take a shot at you.
Re: T2 - Does Bolster work?
Ok. Well without hopefully sounding rude. I understand lash is an issue the devs careally about but why is a proper bolster to level cap not? ? Having a proper bolster would eliminate the need to rush t3 because all in t2 would be equal. No?

The bolster would have to be rewriten from live.mursie wrote:Ok. Well without hopefully sounding rude. Things I am pretty sure it doesn't take into account, talismans (7x~20), RR abilities (~120 at RR34+), BiS gear and weapons (esp wep dps?), potions (48-60).
And that's assuming it even emulates what it is intended to do well, which I doubt.
Being a lowbie in a tier sucks, only thing you can do is ride the zerg, or leech off of your guild group if they are cool/gracious enough. Or *shudder* PvE grind PQ's, but this is inefficient because it lacks any RR which is needed for virtually any decent gear unless you have hundreds of gold to spend on blue/purple PvE drops, that are likely not even on the market to begin with.

The answer's simply 'no' because R22-26 gear (not even speaking of R26's with scenario weapons..) will NOT be closed in the gap of a simple 5 level raise from the current bolster, as it only affects base stats. R22+ gear will increase these base stats even more, + players always slot tallies in them. Also, RR abilities make the gap wider; even when you're at RR20 (which was the max cap before T2's release) with a twinked T1 character, most R26's already have RR25 at least.

Armor value alone is the argument on which the bolster gap closing is bullshit. It only increases base stats and ignores all other said factors.Jaycub wrote:The bolster would have to be rewriten from live.mursie wrote:Ok. Well without hopefully sounding rude. Its best to accept that the bolster is just vague joke. You are really just a level 12 that is really a level 26 and you have exactly the chance that you think you do against them.
Its tough, but there is no way to get levels and rr besides what JC and others say. Just grovel your way up and eventually you will be bullying noobs too. Won't those be good times?

All r22-26 are basically T3 players. The bolster is working properly for the <ancient> tier brackets. I don't think it is a good solution but it's the way we are going currently.
@Jaycub
Like mentioned above, the bolster is different than on live, where we had altered tier brackets.
When the bolster is working properly it takes into account talismans and basic attributes on items (including weapon dps, excluding all % value attributes).
@Ryan
When you want to say, that armor is not increased by bolster, then you are wrong.
Dying is no option.
