Agrot is just a hater. This a game that actually looks good, compared to all the horseshit that's been released this year.
Re: Vermintide
Not going to get it. I have no hopes left for the Warhammer community, ever since Age of Sigmar dissapointment. Warhammer Online is the only thing to go.

Re: Vermintide
Does somebody know if there's some kind of character customization?

I think there will be hats and what not, I heard some streamer talking about headgear. It's sort of lootbased game after all.

Left 4 Dead 2 suffers from this exact issue as well ... and is really popular.magter3001 wrote:Looks beautiful but the combat and gameplay looks really stale... something that might get boring after 3 hours in.

Re: Vermintide
well it has procedually generated monster closets and stuff just like L4D2 so it has some replay valuemagter3001 wrote:Looks beautiful but the combat and gameplay looks really stale... something that might get boring after 3 hours in.

That's true... I just don't like L4D2CarlistRieekan wrote:Left 4 Dead 2 suffers from this exact issue as well ... and is really popular.magter3001 wrote:Looks beautiful but the combat and gameplay looks really stale... something that might get boring after 3 hours in.
Now I'm starting to figure out why people like it, but it's not for everyone, not for me.

Re: Vermintide
So having played the beta, I am gonna say the game is pretty great especially for the price.
Those of your comparing it to L4D are right. That is what the game is at its core. Even the enemy types are similar. If you hate the L4D formula you won't like this game.
In my opinion L4D is just ok. It is a decent 4 player co-op game you can bust a map out in a night or two and call it a day. There are several places where VT really differentiates itself. The cosmetics aside there are a lot of differences that while small help the game immensely over L4D.
Combat wise the game is much more fun. You are constatly doing something different. There are five basic melee moves, a heavy attack, regular attack, block, dodge, and push. Then you add in the ranged combat element which is a big part. The formula works well because you have to be constantly thinking about what to do next when it hits the fan.
The character classes really help take it further as well. They all feel pretty different and the different loot you get can really change a class up. I took the dwarf who starts out with an axe shield and sniper style cross bow first. Then I got a double barrel shotgun and a single handed weapon and suddenly he went from a slow hitting tanky type to a ranged attacker heavy close wide arc swing.
The level design is light years better. Everything has much more flavor to it. It doesn't feel like nameless city building in some random corridor. The maps are detailed and the characters mention things about the map constantly making each run feel like things are happening. This may wear down after a while, but for the time being it makes it much cooler.
The enemies being skaven is much better as well. They feel more life like instead of like more bland enemies in L4D. Its neat watching hordes of them come down off the walls and while you are fighting in your right ear you hear clang of armor and marching and know a stormvermin patrol has found you.
The big minus right now is the bugs and clipping problems that need to be addressed. The other major minus is the enemy diversity. Overall, I think I am going to end up picking this game up. Its only 26 right now on steam and that is a steal for teh amount of fun I am having playing.
