Question for the community:
How Do You Define Zerg?
I hear a lot of Zerg talk, anti-zerg sentiment, and was just wondering how the players define a zerg.
Is it a Zerg if it's a 24 player Warband and you happen to be alone?
Is any superior number of players versus your group a Zerg?
Is a Zerg situational? If so, what conditions must exist for a number of players to be "officially" a Zerg?
Should the 24 player WB be eliminated from the game to eliminate the "Zerg"?

Re: A Warband by any other name is still
I define zerg as enough players in one place to make most, if not all, tactics go out of the window.

I have been accused of zerging...

a x number of player that stick togheter no matter what, tactically for overhelm any opponents, cos it's easier in number.

So if the enemy is even severely outnumbered, there could still be some strategy correct? Run away is a strategy, after all.Azarael wrote:I define zerg as enough players in one place to make most, if not all, tactics go out of the window.
So your definition is flawed. Even "Eff it, run in and Die" is a strat of sorts. So a Zerg cannot be solely designated by the enemy forces failure to plan or have a strategy to counter the superior numbers.
Remember before the RvR changes? Remember the Strat players used to counter the Zerg and still gain renown, XP, and Influence? When we had 9 players all sub 26 and they had 20+ players at 26 with a few Alt Lowbies? Remember that strat where we took up the North Vietnamese Guerilla tactics and hit them where they weren't? That was a strat. A strat that countered, by your definition, the Zerg and produced results.
And you know who complained about that Zerg busting strat? The Zerg at that time. It was "Avoiding the Fight".
You know what happened? Changes Happened. Changes that forced the smaller force to fight the larger force for Influence, renown, and XP. And this went on for a few weeks. Unhappily for the smaller force, they got wiped, renown and influence dwindled, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
So what did the smaller group do once they heard there were new zones, rewards, and tokens? They coordinated, gathered up, and made a Zerg of their own.
And you know what happened? The once larger force, who wanted the changes to force the smaller force to fight the bigger force, became the smaller force. And there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
But lo.. this did not happen for weeks. This was reversed, "corrected" immediately. Within 24 hours. And any and all gains, as well as some talismans and gear, were wiped for "fairness".
I spend about 2 hours in a 6-man fighting Order in the zones last night. Even solo qued and lost an SC during that time. Ask Rios, Extrsquishey, Boobookitty, Kok, Breitling, and them - I fought them, not the keep lords. So taking away some medals I never even really counted doesn't matter to me.
But the pot calling the kettle black and getting an immediate and decisive action to counter their wailing and gnashing of teeth makes me sick to my stomach.
