New Tier 3 Story Dungeons: Silver Falls Pass And Blood River Canyon

We're thrilled to present our newest 6-man Dungeons in the game: Silver Falls Pass for Order and Blood River Canyon for Destruction!

Both Dungeons will open on September 18th!

These new Tier 3 Dungeons are designed for level 25+ players and are built to take around 30–45 minutes or less to clear once you know the fights.

Higher-level players can also join with their stats debolstered, whether they're helping others and earning Mentor's Marks, or taking on special challenges for additional Champion's Marks!

Click here to watch on YouTube

Built From The Ground Up

Both of these Dungeons are brand new content designed using the team's new Terrain Editor tool. Every hill, every rock, every arrow stuck in a table was hand-placed by our designers. This is our first test of the tool; we look forward to your feedback and, if players like it, there's a very strong chance our next use of this tool will be a bit more... PvP focused!

We also have a brand new lighting system shown in these Dungeons for the very first time. Be sure to turn your graphics up a bit to enjoy the shadows, glow of the lanterns inside cave tunnels, and more as you run through them!

It's All About The Mechanics

These new Dungeons are introducing brand new mechanics into RoR that we've wanted for some time, including one on Boss 4 that we've been wanting to add for years. We're excited to hear everyone's feedback to it, and if people like it enough, perhaps we'll use it someday in other parts of the game!

In addition, this Dungeon is extremely mechanic-focused. Do the mechanics properly and you'll be fine! Ignore the mechanics and you're probably going to die. Simple, right?

How To Enter The New Dungeons

You can manually enter the new T3 Dungeons in the Southeast Corner of both Karaz-a-Karak for Order, and Karak Eight Peaks for Destruction.

If you're in a guild rank 26 or higher, you can also purchase the new teleport scrolls to the Dungeon's entrance from the Guild Merchants in Sigmar's Hammer, the War Room, The Waaagh Room, and The Viper Pit.

A New Take On Debolster

In this Dungeon, we're reintroducing the Debolster, but with a number of improvements to fix past challenges with it. In the new version:

- Debolster will reduce your stats, but will no longer prevent you from using abilities

- Debolster will no longer bug out your tactic slots (If you're above level 32, all four tactics will activate and work, including once you leave the Dungeon)

Please let us know if you encounter any issues with it while using high level characters to run the Dungeon. And speaking of Debolster, there's a reason we wanted to add it in:

Challenge Hard Modes For All Six Bosses!

There are six total bosses in this Dungeon, and all six are equipped with optional Hard Mode versions. Clearing a Hard Mode will award your entire party a Champion's Mark.

To trigger Hard Modes, you must first clear the Dungeon once or have someone in your party who has. This player may click on an object near the Dungeon's entrance (a Lantern for Order and a bonfire for Destro), which will toggle on objects at each boss that enable the Hard Mode fight.

This time around, we've made it so you can activate or deactivate hard mode on a fight if someone accidentally interacts with the trigger. (Just click the trigger object at the fight a second time to deactivate before you pull.) This way you can choose which fights you want to challenge on Hard Mode, and you can play the others normally as you like.

New Tier 3 Gear & Accessories

Bosses in this Dungeon drop pieces in the new Oathkeeper armor set pieces. You can also earn Shiny Treasure currency to purchase brand new accessories for level 25 players, and for those who collect enough of this currency, the original cape designs from the Dwarf and Greenskin City Launch are finally becoming attainable once again. It'll cost you a bit of gold, but players who missed these events years back now have a new way to gain these cosmetics, if they work hard enough!

New Condensed Quests

We're testing out a brand new way to shrink down all those quests in your quest log by splitting the Dungeon into only two boss kill quests instead of six. Defeating the first three bosses twice will now grant three pieces of gear or dyes of your choice; then likewise for the final three. Please give it a try and let us know your thoughts. If players like this approach, we may retroactively apply it to other Dungeons like Gunbad or Bastion Stair someday, in order to help trim quests down a bit!

Heraldry Shields

New heraldry shields have been added for the Ironbreaker and Black Orc, which can be picked up from Thurgrund Argonsson or Mukrak Slimeboss in Karaz-a-Karak or Karak Eight Peaks respectively - when leaving the flight master area to enter the city. Though these quests are available at level 15, the dungeon is intended for players who are level 25.

Secrets

There are no secrets or achievements to be found in these Dungeons. Please do not look for them.

A Monumental Effort

[The following is a personal letter from Rubius, Dungeons Team Lead:]

Friends, it's been a long year, and I'm humbled by all the support and help from so many people to bring today's new content to life.

I'd like to take a moment to appreciate everyone who worked on these Dungeons, from the designers to the coders to our wonderful voice actors and even the many player testers and guilds who helped try these out early and gave us feedback to enhance them.

This was perhaps our biggest project yet, and the very first major Dungeon in a map built completely by our team, with hundreds of lines of original voice acting, with brand new mechanics, with new visuals and cutscenes, and designed in a way that players of all levels can enjoy it. There's something for everyone here, and I could not be more proud of the hard work so many people put in to make it possible.

It's bittersweet, but these Dungeons also mark my final project on the RoR Dungeons team, as I'm starting a new job and chapter of life in Japan. The PvE team is in excellent hands as they move towards TOVL and the Land of the Dead, so don't worry about that at all. I hope that our team's efforts over the last few years have made the PvE experience in the game significantly better and more enjoyable for all players, and please know that your kind comments and feedback to our polls mean so much to us. Thank you.

Once more, to all those involved in today's milestone launch of these wonderful Dungeons: thank you for all of your hard work!

It's been an honor bringing these, and so many other Dungeons, to life alongside you. - Rubius

Warhammer's 18th Anniversary

Warhammer Online turns 18!

For 18 years, WAR has brought people together across the battlefields of the Old World. Today, we want to celebrate and thank all of the developers, designers, artists, and countless others who helped bring Warhammer Online to life, as well as those who continue to dedicate their time and passion to keeping its world alive today.

Most of all, we want to thank you, our community. Through all these years, you have made WAR much more than just a game. It has become a place where friendships are formed, memories are made, and people can come together to share both their victories and their struggles.

To celebrate this milestone, the RvR Weekly will run until September 28th. During the event, players can complete the "Spirit of WAR" quest, available near the Herald in Altdorf or The Inevitable City, to earn a special commemorative cloak.

Thank you for being part of WAR's story, and here's to another 18 years!

Live Event: March of the Greenskins
Image
Autumn in the Badlands is a battle for survival. Oppressive heat causes food and drink to become scarce, a dangerous combination for a desolate landscape full of greenskin tribes. In such conditions the only way for a warboss to control his tribe is to lead them to greener pastures for a proper WAAAGH!

The March of the Greenskins marks what seems like an annual migration of starving greenskin hordes from the Badlands north into the Empire. By late autumn the Badlands are bone dry, while the Empire has reaped a bountiful harvest - ready for the taking.

The March of the Greenskins will start on September 18th and last until September 28th.

Rewards

Basic reward: Paint Thickener - An item used to buy your choice of War Paint, a pocket item with a bonus and a malus.
Advanced reward: A Crate of Dyes ; or a 7-Day Aegis
Elite reward: A War-worn Mantle cape that is unique to each race Preview here, or 2 Potions of Acclaim

Players can claim their rewards at the live event heralds, Ancestral Scholar Grondsson in the Hall of Remembering of Karaz-a-Karak, or Waaaghcalla Kurga in the Hall of Da Bestest in Karak Eight Peaks.

Teeth of Fallen Foes and Relics

Every player kill during this event will drop Teeth of the Fallen.

New limited time shrines have appeared in Karaz-a-Karak's Hall of Remembering and Karak Eight Peak's Hall of Da Bestest (the halls at the 'bottom' of the ramp leading to High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer/Warboss Grumlok). Take the teeth you acquire and contribute them here in honor of the gods, and you'll receive a limited time Renown Boost.

The Renown Boost lasts for 8 hours, and by working together as a realm, you can increase the boost even higher. The boosts, and the skills required, are:

Realm Teeth Boosts (Per faction, resets every 8 hours):
- 250+ Teeth: 10% Renown Boost
- 500+ Teeth: 20% Renown Boost
- 750+ Teeth: 30% Renown Boost
- 1000+ Teeth:40% Renown Boost
- 1250+ Teeth: 50% Renown Boost

Heroic Relics

After every 1,000 teeth donated, a Relic will soon spawn in front of either Stonewatch (Order) or Butcher's Pass (Destruction).

This Relic acts as a pairing wide flag running mechanic, and if you can escort your relic all the way to the enemy's shrine (Order runs to Butcher's Pass, Destro to Stonewatch) and place it there, your entire realm in the zone will get an additional 50% Renown Boost, which stacks on top of your normal teeth Renown Boost.

Likewise, if you intercept the enemy realm and prevent them from capturing their relic, your realm will earn a 25% Renown Bonus for a successful defense.

Relics must be taken through RvR flagged zones and cannot be pulled into PvE, and with a full 3 maps to traverse, you can set ambushes for your enemy or send scouts ahead to ensure your relic caravan survives the journey. Relics can spawn at maximum once per hour, and are intended to layer in more options for RvR players during this event.

The Rogue Idol Stirs...

During the March of the Greenskins, a hulking Rogue Idol has been stirred to life by WAAAGH! magic in the Badlands, located east of the keep. Players can participate in this limited-time ORvR PQ to earn rewards, such as Prominent Tusks (required to buy dyes), a new cloak, or items to trade in for live event jewelry or a wyvern mount.

Our thanks to our art team for their hard work bringing the Rogue Idol to life. Erm... we mean Mork and Gork for bringing the Rogue Idol to life.

Ancestral Statues

The Winds of the WAAAGH! are powerful indeed, pulling up Ancestral Statues through the ground to the surface during the March of the Greenskins. Located in the Dwarf vs. Greenskin Pairing from Tier 2 to 4, Ancestral Statues can be found in ORvR lakes. Players must complete a quest they can find in Karaz-a-Karak or Karak Eight Peaks to acquire a Bucket of Water (for Order) or Moist Mud (for Destruction) which they can use to change the state of the Ancestral Statue. Throwing mud, or water, at the statues will give players a 30-minute buff that will increase their chance to critically hit, but also increase their chance to be critically hit.

Also, this mud and water will damage enemy players and their may or may not be Achievements linked to this...

Live Event Achievements

A total of 15 Achievements are possible during this live event by doing tasks related to the live event, such as escorting the relic, stopping the relic, or donating teeth to the Divine Altars. Completionists and those working their way to 10k tome unlocks, here's your chance to go wild.

Live Event Shoppe & Event Dyes

This March of the Greenskins players have access to 26 Greenskin themed dyes, including the two spec dyes Bloody Sunz Iron and Da Bestest Green. During The March of the Greenskins, Order players can purchase these limited-time dyes from Frigga Stonepainter at the Karaz-a-Karak Hall of Remembering, and Destruction players can shop with Gribz Fingapainta at the Hall of Da Bestest.

Dye previews are available here towards the bottom, but please be aware that the colors may apply differently on different base armor colors. We recommend to use an addon such as Pocket Palette to see how this dye will look on your armor, but please note it may take a few days before the add-on is updated. These colors were taken from official publications.

Scenario
Image

Matchmaking

- Scenario matchmaking will now attempt to create the biggest match possible each time (e.g. if the matchmaker was struggling to make a 6v6 and then another SC ended and filled the queue with new players, it would still create a 6v6 match instead of say 8v8, leaving players in the queue only to later add them through backfill).

Scenario Guards

- Guards on several Scenario maps have been moved closer to their original positions.

- Guard aggro range on these maps has been increased from 5 feet to 25 feet.

- Guard positioning and aggro ranges will continue to be monitored and adjusted based on player feedback. This may include reducing or expanding aggro ranges or moving individual guards as needed.

Ironclad

- Based on focus group feedback, the central gangway banner has been moved from the cramped ramped hallway into the open room behind the ramp, giving players more space to fight around the objective.
- The upper deck banner has been moved to the opposite side of the deck, helping normalize the distance between Order's closest banner and Destruction's closest banner.

Twisting Tower

- Based on focus group feedback, Twisting Tower has been reworked into a true Domination scenario, similar to Nordenwatch, with the focus now entirely on capturing and holding three battlefield objectives.

- A new battlefield objective, The Spire, has been added at the top of the tower. The Spire replaces the previous Oculus of Change clickable mechanic and objective, providing a clearer and more consistent capture objective.

- The additional mechanics surrounding the Oculus of Change have been removed, reducing unnecessary complexity and making the scenario's objectives easier for newer players to understand.

- The barriers at the top of The Spire have been removed to provide more freedom of movement around the objective. We will continue to monitor how this plays and may restore the barriers if their removal causes issues.

Talabec Dam

- Based on feedback and observations from the weekend Warfront live tests, several timing and control adjustments have been made to the Giant mechanic.

- The Giant's initial spawn has been delayed until 30 seconds after the match begins.

- The Giant's respawn after being killed by the planted bomb has been increased from 15 to 20 seconds.

- The planted bomb now waits 5 seconds before detonating, increased from 3.7 seconds.

- The Giant's player detection range has been increased from 35 to 45 feet, giving players more room to maneuver while contesting control of the Giant.

Reikland Hills

- A small rock wall has been added near the Order spawn to prevent Order players from returning to their spawn from the battlefield, matching the restrictions already faced by Destruction and keeping the two sides fairer.

The Old Dwarf Road

- Added ambient audio and scenario music has been added.

The Sacellum Arena

- Added ambient audio and scenario music has been added.

Pyramid of Settra

- Added ambient audio and scenario music has been added.

Garden of Morr

- Added ambient audio and scenario music has been added.

City Instances

- Scenario vendors have been added to their respective City Instance zones: Reikwald for Order and The Maw for Destruction.

Itemization Rework
Image

Phase I of the Armor Rework has been completed. In the First Phase of the Armor Rework we adjusted all sub-level-40 armor sets (defined as Tiers 1-4). This means, utilizing the RvR naming conventions, sets from Decimator to Annihilator have been readjusted.

Set bonuses have been recalculated to give a flat value across all bonuses, and this value also applies to % stats (rounding applied to % stats). In other words, regardless if it is a 2-piece or a 5-piece bonus, if it gives you 56 points worth of stats, you will get 56 points whether it is 56 strength or 6% melee crit. This should mean an increase in % stats on lower tier sets, as those were typically valued at 1% for tier 1, 4% for tier 4, etc.

Sets within a line of acquisition should 'upgrade' into the same spec in the next tier. For example, Mercenary should have the same stat distribution as Duelist, or Carnage's stat distribution will be maintained through Havoc, Mayhem, and Ruin. We hope to limit the amount of large deviations in spec along lines of armor progression (though in higher tiers some may persist due to how some dungeon sets were designed).

What's next? As you read this, work has already begun on the Tier 5-8 armor set rework. Our goal is to deliver Phase II with the remaining 4 tiers in the October patch; however, as there are a lot of items and this work is quite intensive, time-tables may change. We appreciate your patience should anything change.

Tier 1

- Tier 1 sets including Decimator, Braggart, Hunter, Carnage, and Protector have been balanced according to the new system and all made level 10. As a result Decimator and Braggart saw a minor armor decrease, while Carnage got a minor armor increase. Overall all sets got a stat budget increase, between 3 and 11 stat points.

Tier 2

- Tier 2 sets including Obliterator, Challenger, Tracker, Havoc, Keeper, and City-Watch have been balanced according to the new system and all made level 20. As a result Obliterator and Challenger saw minor armor decreases, while Carnage and City-Watch got a minor armor increase. Obliterator and Challenger lost stats due to losing an item level, while other sets gained stats from the item level increase.

- A new proc 'Protector' has been introduced on Challenger gear, decreasing guard damage taken by 25%; this proc will be on T2-T4 sets only.

- Keeper and City-Watch gear have been shifted from 3-to-5pc bonus sets, to 2-4 piece bonus sets to match the other sets in this tier. Additionally, Keeper gear has been designated as 'Main spec', while City-Watch is 'Off-Spec' so Tanks and healers wearing these sets will see their stats swapped.

Tier 3

- Tier 3 sets including Devastator, Duelist, Stalker, Mayhem, and Holdfast have been balanced according to the new system and made level 30. As a result Devastator and Duelist saw minor armor decreases, while Mayhem and Holdfast got a minor armor increase. All sets saw a stat budget increase.

- Holdfast gear has been designated as 'Off-Spec' (the spiritual upgrade to City-Watch) so some classes may see their stats swapped.

- A new 'Main Spec' armor set, which is the spiritual upgrade to Keeper, has been introduced in our new Tier 3 dungeons - Oathkeeper.

Tier 4

- Tier 4 sets have received a long-overdue major redesign. This impacts Annihilator, Mercenary, and Ruin armor, which are now all classified as level 40 sets. Overall these sets all received a armor decrease, while enjoying substantial stat budget increases.

- Annihilator/Mercenary gears' character level (when you can equip it) has been lowered from 35 to: 34 for helm and shoulders; 33 for gloves (and belt), 32 for boots; the chest remains level 35.

- Ruin gear's character level has been lowered from 36 to: 34 for the chest, 33 for the helm and shoulders, 32 for gloves (and belt), 31 for boots.

- All sets have been given a 6th piece, the belt, but still have a maximum 5-piece bonus. The set bonuses got a complete overhaul, removing obsolete bonuses such as Magical Resistances, or problematic bonuses such as additional Mastery Points.

- We realize that Tier 4 is a bit light on options with only 3 sets, so we do plan on expanding the options in the future.

Weapons

- The "Sentry's" line of War Crest shields, from ilvl 31 (of Cruelty/Sanctity) onward, have been retuned to include +1% Block. This sets these shields closer in design to their original pre-rework ilvl 61 (of Anathema/Reverence) design. For reference, the ilvl 66 (of Infamy/Supremacy) versions now have 33 Wounds, 22 Initiative, 1% Block, 2% Dodge/Disrupt, 2% Reduction in being Critically Hit. This is a reduction of 3 Wounds and 1% Dodge/Disrupt in order to fit the 1% Block.

Experimental Client Update
Image

This patch includes a new version of the experimental client, available through the launcher options. When using the experimental client, the following features are available:

Discord Rich Presence

- Shows your character’s name, career, rank, renown rank and current zone in Discord.

- Shows when you’re fighting in ORvR, queueing for scenarios or playing a scenario.

- Displays scenario scores, remaining time and party size.

Improved Graphics

- Disables mip-mapped textures and enables anisotropic filtering, taking advantage of the GPU power/memory available today.

Improved Performance

- Some of the slower parts of the engine have been replaced with more optimized code, increasing FPS.

- The shader cache has been fixed to actually work, reducing load-in stutter after playing a few times (now that this is working, deleting your cache folder is not recommended as it will reset the shader cache).

- Channel 9 addon text is delivered faster to addons and no longer competes for your chat log buffer.

Keep Heraldry and Guild Ownership

- Guild-claimed keeps now display the claiming guild’s colours, pattern and emblem on their banners.

- Banners update when a keep is claimed, released or captured, returning to realm colours when unclaimed.

- Restored the map indicator for guild-claimed keeps.

- Restored claiming guild names in keep tooltips.

- The Guild window now shows your guild’s claimed keep and upkeep cost.

- Alliance listings and guild search results now include each guild’s claimed keep.

- Added keep rank, door health and rank progress information for addons.

Bug Fixes

- No more random crashes when changing zones.

- Fixed random corruption in the network packets such as renown rank 250 popups, survey windows, corrupt text, crashes/disconnects under low FPS, etc.

- Mounted NPC quest/rally/etc. icons no longer randomly disappear underground.

- Deathblows on distant characters are now correctly reported in the chat/combat log.

- Crossing a zone seam no longer impacts your FPS if you remained in the same area.

**Note:** This may cause a small hiccup with some antivirus software, but don't worry! If you encounter any issues, please let us know.

- This patch introduces a complete refactor of the server's network code, moving it to a more modern API and fixing some correctness bugs along the way. This should have no gameplay impact, however players with higher latency (>50ms) might see some small reduction in lag. Please report if you see any increase in connection errors / random disconnects / etc.

Quality of Life

- The talisman fusing process has been revamped and should now be much more reliable. The infamous "Something went wrong 2" error and items disappearing until a relog should never happen any more. This work uncovered numerous bugs, including talismans lost inside the item or the fusing window. These will be handed back on login where possible. Another bug allowed a talisman to never properly be fused into an item, letting the player keep the talisman while the item behaved as if the fuse had succeeded. These "ghost" talismans in items will now be deleted on login, as no talisman was actually spent on the item. Around 600 items across the entire server are affected, so although the chance is low, please check your gear after login in case you ran into this bug.

- Added multiple-purchase protection for any bind-on-pickup non-consumable items that cost War Crests, War Tokens or War Emblems. Intentionally buying multiple via shift+right click is not affected.

- Some stepping stones have been added outside of the southern postern in Fells Landing so that players can run up the steps instead of having to jump. For the Phoenix King.

- Colliders have been modified on : dwarf campfires, dwarf airship fuel pumps, and dark elf small tents due to players getting stuck. This should allow for more fluid gameplay, particularly around BOs with lots of small dark elf tents. If you know of other fixtures that have colliders you frequently get stuck on, please let a friendly CM know.

- The Ivory Hunting Horn has been made unique equipped, as some players were intentionally wearing more than 1 to break their character's appearance. It will remain unique equipped until we are able to resolve the issue of high resolution trophies breaking the face. Please note, we want players to enjoy trophies they earn, but we also do not want to see players running around with broken appearances.

Happy birthday AoR! . Thanks for all your hard work. Just a suggestion although i agree spawning multiple screamers was too much at least make the one that spawns now prioritize players instead of other pets / turrets.

All these changes. This server shouldn't even be associated with Warhammer Online anymore. Everything that's been done here over the years has nothing to do with our beloved Warhammer.

It's getting worse and worse.

So much work went into this patch. Thank you.

I don’t do PvE personally, and wish the campaign would get more attention, but for once I’m excited about the new dungeons.

Why? They were made from the ground up with the terrain editor, so my hope is this tool can be extended to help change RvR lakes etc. Time will tell, but I continue to be positive about RoR’s team and all the work they put into it.
