rDPS is op, thus they shouldn't be excited.
I mean perhaps they are overperforming and need a nerf but then it should be symmetric, rSH looks a lot more fun to play and also stronger than rSW after the patch. At least they could just mirror rSH if they have no vision or concept on what to do with rSW. So while you might have a valid point it pretty much falls apart because the "balance" changes to ranged dps classes are applied very selectively at best.
Also the point of a rework is to make the class more fun and give it a smoother gameplay, even if it ends weaker than before. How is rSW getting more fun exactly? And how is a very squishy meele class like aSW supposed to be fun? At best it's a cheesy glasscanon with oneshots that's "fun" for around 10 minutes, doubt anybody enjoys being the main target immediately, even in small scale PvP, let alone large scale fights.

That works in other genres, but in a pvp mmo that’s so weighted toward geared players it’s toxic for casual players.
Lets not mix things up, most modern games do this balance approach (WoW is doing it as well for example) and while I'm not a fan of it there's at least a concept behind it, balance patches happen often and frequently and while there is a meta they constantly shrink the gap between the top classes and bottom classes with minor patches until they change the meta again. This RoR patch reads less like a meta shake up but more like at least one member of the balance team has a personal vendetta against rSW while closing his eyes when looking at rSH.

They have put hundreds of hours into their beloved character just to get destroyed by one patch. Like all of their builds at once. There are at least a few that gonna leave after this patch hits. Id prefer new players to stay, not leave...
I wish they could find decent middle grounds where the class is still useful and fun to play. Not from overpowered to useless.
I'm one of these "new" players and feel like I'm actually in a much better spot than the rSW mains who actually did put a thousand hours into this class as it's much easier for me to just play another MMO which I'm more familiar with anyways instead. I'd be very pissed if my SW would be RR80+ but it's far away from that so I'm more like "what a bummer, guess I'll just level a hunter instead and don't bother with this one".
Kinda funny in a sad way tho because when I started playing one (think that was over a year ago then stopped and only looked into it again a few days ago) nobody wanted to have them in their groups and after this nerf they'll most likely be worse than before that.
And I don't even think that every class needs to be equally strong in every content. My own definition of a balanced class is that it's BIS or close to BIS in one or two niches (scenarios, small scale, large scale or duels) and does well together with a specific comp which it has good synergie with it. My definition of a class that's overperforming is if it dominates most niches and starts replacing other classes in their best comps. An underperforming class would be one that's not BIS in anything meaningful.
While you're worried about people quitting over this... it might unironically be the best thing to get a correction because the game heavily relies on proper faction balance, so if one faction collapses (even if only temporarily) then nobody else is getting to play the game properly either which puts much more pressure on the balance team than forum posts, especially after their entire response to all the feedback was basically "shut up, here's another nerf". Just compare how Larian treats their community for example vs how this team treats their community
The worst part seems to be that it's not the first time where they heavily overcorrect a class and then leave it in limbo for an eternity instead of softening the nerf.
