Well they also doubled down and nerfed fester again :D I don't think anybody will argue against the AoE nerf being justified, it's that literally everything, including ST damage got nerfed on the ranged builds without much (or any) compensation at all. Would also guess that the vast majority of the people who picked the class isn't interested in playing some meele glasscanon class, at least I have no interested in that (would play a WE or WH if I would), even if it turns out to be very good (which I personally doubt as squishy meele classes don't have a good track record of performing well in MMOs). If the only options will turn out to either be a discount WE/WH (for meele) or discount SH (for ranged) then you'll just end up having a much better time playing a hunter in WoW lol (who actually get a cool rework in 2 weeks which is overwhelmingly well received)...
Bankei wrote: Mon Jul 27, 2026 4:31 pmIf you only get your views on a patch from the forums and you meta chase, you're going to have a VERY bad time.
I mean unfortuneately for me there's no proper ranking or check-pvp for this game so it's impossible for me to "filter" opinions or just look up what's op at high ratings so looking into the forums is my best bet without having to spend like 100 hours testing everything by myself. It's not like the devs explain much either, for example why they're so obsessed with turning it into a weird meele glasscanon while SH having defenses and range damage is fine. That forums tend to be biased isn't exactly new but neither are the devs and I don't have the impression that previous "balance" patches have been good.

WW is on a 30 second cooldown and dependent on another class being in the same group. It is not consistent and it is time laden. WW appeals are not a marker for any real argument.
It's how you balance things. Around all tools avalible.
Why damage in the game is so high? Because its balanced around guard, heals, morales etc.
If the argument is based around all conceivable things that may happen because of a group where class X, Y, and Z may potentially do a, b, and c, etc., then there is no viable discussion.

Without adequate defences, ASW will stay irrelevant for most part in its niche smalls scale role, you don't do any DPS when dead. An inferior version of WL with a little ''ranged'' utility (which after skirmish tree nerfs is quite weak indeed).

I predict RSW players will quit the class ''en masse'' since who wants to be a ''shadow''( no pun ) of their previous self. Some nerfs pure exaggerations against the class ( such as singletarget skirmish DPS who got gutted alongside the AOE nerfs).

Nah, just build parties properly.
If X+Y in party gives you morale drop damage every GCD for 10 seconds, then ANY competent warband will do so.

I never subscribe to the “Sky is falling mentality”. It’s understandable if someone’s class gets a nerf, but this game is about adapting, and some players will make it work.

It’s like you see a lot of familiar WE names now playing rSH or Magus. Meta players are gonna play meta classes, as they need to be carried.

AOE skirmish may be less favourable on a WB, and order may be stacking WL + BW again. Hard to say. Most skirmish players will go Scout, I suspect, rather than nerd rage quit and reroll.

aSW will always be a niche, as it’s purely single target so has no reason to be in a WB. That’s fine with me. I solo roamed aSW for the last year, with only a handful of other regulars like Boop and Contract. Some of us will just make it work.

aSW worked anyways for solo roaming. Was it optimal? No. Was it frustrating? Yes. Was it doable? Yes. Likewise, the buffs to it are justified.

And aSW was always perfectly viable in a 6-men, or 12-men, especially when paired with a WL. It just needs to be part of a good assist train, like other mDPS.

What holds aSW back with the masses more than anything is that it got a much higher skill ceiling than, say, a ST WL. In the hands of an average player, a WL is much easier as you mash a handful of buttons.

However, in the hand of a good player aSW performs well already, and I’m sure will continue to do so.

Well could justify anything with that mentality, it's admirable i agree but has little to do with a balance discussion. The fact remains that ASW has got relatively(speaking) poor defences after this rework.

They completely stripped it off its stance signature armor buff that it ALWAYS had and was part of the spec identity, gave it the worst possible detaunt( read my post on the previous page on ASW detaunt) and the new ability( blurring) is lackluster.

Yes its going to melt. I think the DPS is alright after this rework but that's about it and the new M2 is interesting.

As for RSW its just nerfed so much that many will naturally quit. I enjoyed playing Skirmish SW from time to time during the past years, i won't continue to do so and i will certainly not play Scout SW, never enjoyed it.

I do not subscribe to this ''stockholms syndrome'' mentality sorry, although i do agree you can make everything viable if you strive hard enough.

I think they should probably buff guerilla training a bit.

I think if the talent is expecting you to constantly change stances to make it work, its benefit should be more than -15% damage for 5seconds.

+15% dmg is what you give a tactic if it is like a flat benefit not one that expects you to click stances every 5s

I also think it might be designed in a bit of an awkward way. Example, swapping to Assault gives more defenses, but you want to use the stance offensively since it no longer gives armor. Skirmish is the kiting stance so in this stance you start using your abilities, not run, while you go into scout to apply debuffs casted stationary, so auto attacks might not pop in it too often, unless all those buffs are not 5 sec, but permanent similar to Marauders Changers Gift.

If it were permanent and not 5s. I still don't think people would take it, but I am not sure

This is not thought through. Your attempt to justify the new SW is based around their being compensated by other classes. In order to do that, the group or WB would have to be designed to accommodate the new SW. Why would any WB do this? Competative WBs/grps have no need as other classes are superior at doing whatever the SW would be expected to perform. PUG WBs by definition are the mob, so no designing occurs. The Dev ravishment of SWs is consigning them to the periphery.

Do you know any SW mains excited for what is coming? That answer illustrates the problem.
