Issue:
Locking posterns either by ranking up the keep or by claiming it is a broken mechanic that causes harm to the (nonexistant) campaign, because it does not take population imbalances into account. This makes it a fundamental flaw in the RvR design and further decreases peoples desire to siege keeps.
Solution:
Locking Posterns should not be tied to keep rank nor should guilds be able to lock posterns by claiming.
The only stat that should determine if keep posterns are locked is the current zone pop (AAO).
- Posterns should lock automatically if the defenders are outnumbered by a certain amount (probably somewhere around 40% to 60% AAO).
- Posterns should be unlocked in every other case.
This will give heavily outnumbered defenders a better fighting chance and will ensure that posterns are never locked if the pop is somewhat equal for both realms -- keep sieges are already hard and tedious enough in the case of equal numbers.
[Suggestion] Postern locking

Re: [Suggestion] Postern locking
Ties in to what I'd like to see in a keep rework. I think there needs to be a way to get a real group in and on the walls; maybe make it a WE/WH specific bypass or something. There's just not a lot of reason to bypass currently (none in a contested keep really) because you're left with very little support.
There's a million other things I think would be good in a rework. I'd love to see the upgrades become meaningful again. I know some of them still exist but I don't think anyone buys them.

Did you even read your own proposal? This directly harms defenders by forcing a small number of players to split when locking the door gives them oil to counter the number advantage. 5 years ago we had the exact same mechanic and keeps would fall regularly even at 20% aao. This is not a defenders to strong problem but a RVR has no point besides kills so why would we ever leave the zones with the shortest path between camps problem.saupreusse wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2026 5:42 pm Issue:

You misunderstood. Outnumbered defenders would always have locked posterns as per my proposal.reyaloran wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2026 9:47 pmDid you even read your own proposal? Also i agree that the elephant in the room is that we don't have a campaign, but you can already read about that in other topics.
