What ppl dont tell you here, is that you better focus on RvR then scenarios. The reason is simple: you will need at least 40 genesis crests on 36 lvl to get a very good (for a new one for sure) trinkets. And to get gen.crests - you need rvr bags... Also, you can get some proper weapons for t4 influence, like BIS (right now at least) dagger for def-build. Btw, if you will play def build - you will need 2 trinkets with parry and 2 with wounds (GENESIS, not brawler). And, just like other guys here, i recommend you to play def-regen, since it completely suits your requirements for gameplay.

Re: Seeking Guidance: WE Single Target Path
Hi everyone,
First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has participated in this thread and for all the tips so far! I’m learning so much every day and really appreciate the community support.
I’ve been doing more research on the current state of the Witch Elf, and I’ve come across some very strong opinions from veteran players that I wanted to bring here for discussion. The sentiment I’m hearing is that while many players are still stuck in "2021-2024 Regenland," the game has moved on significantly. With the recent buffs to the other trees and the nerfs to regene-build, it feels like the Glass/Burst/Damage WE is in an incredibly overtuned spot right now—maybe the best it's ever been.
I’d love to get your professional take on these points:
The "EZ-Mode" Trap:
Is it true that Regen is mostly for players who use it to compensate for a lack of mechanical skill? I’ve heard it described as an "EZ-mode" that actually prevents you from learning the game properly and developing the right habits for high-level play.
Investing in "Solo Memes":
Some veterans suggest that buying gear specifically for a Regen build is a waste, as it only serves a "solo meme" niche. Is Damage gear the only viable long-term investment if you want to be effective in all aspects of the game (RvR, Warbands, 1v1)?
The Current Meta:
I was told that the Glass/Burst/Damage/ Burst WE is so insane right now that it beats almost every matchup except SnB (Sword & Board) tanks. If Damage is this overtuned, why is the general advice for new players still so focused on Regen?
The "FOTM" Situation:
There are a million WEs running around right now because the class is "Flavor of the Month." Are the sustain/regen builds just a way for the masses to survive without having to master the complex mechanical skill and game knowledge required for a pure Damage build?
Is the "Damage" build really so superior now that Regen has become obsolete for anyone who wants to play at a high level?
Looking forward to the discussion!

The fact that the class is fotm is not entirely related to the regen build. Stealth classes always appeal people, they are interesting since they allow you to play solo, set up ambush and possibly gank squads, the fact that on RoR you can also effectively play on a warband with a stealth class is a plus and makes WEs/WHs even more appealing.Ziorah wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 2:05 pm Hi everyone,

As for regen spec, it's loathed by many (and frowned upon) but it's a much needed reality in a game where DPS/hybrid healers are present. Also, it's not just a starter spec, it's used by long time WE players too, just check their equipment from time to time and you will see that lots of top WEs also (if not exclusively) use regen specs, in a form or another.
Finally, WE burst spec damage is not so high that it beats all matchups, that's the typical argument used by those who ask for nerfs. Check the killboard, look for known WE players and you will see that while they have many solo kills, they also have many solo deaths, proving that the spec/class is far from infallible. Same goes for WHs.
Unfortunately stealth classes are always the most hated ones in MMOs, and most people prefer to spread false informations to get said classes nerfed to oblivion instead of having a more balanced game.

Tnak you krumhur!
By the way, I’d love to get your thoughts on another class I’m playing. I have a RR46 Engineer called Bitsy Bigbang.
I know the Engineer is great for zerg surfing and joining unorganized warbands, but how does she hold up in terms of solo potential? Specifically, I’m talking about 1v1s and duels—that's a huge priority for me.
I really want to be a 'gentleman' and contribute to group play, but I also want to stand my ground when someone jumps me in the open world or challenges me to a duel. I could just stick with my Engi, but the Witch Elf is such a cool 'Femme Fatale' that it’s hard to choose!
Is the Engineer at least somewhat competitive in 1v1s nowadays, or will I always feel like prey without a group? I’d love to hear some more input on the Engi’s current state compared to the WE's solo power!
