Meta shifts in PvP games are always exciting. It's a breath of fresh air for all those boring copy/pasted builds until a new meta emerges. It's a fun time to develop and test new ideas. Looking forward to this change!

I would like to see a fix for invader gear which is pretty underwhelming for majority of classes.

gersy wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2026 2:48 am interesting, this will either go really well or really poorly.

hopefully not too many nerfs to pvp weapons (many anathema weapons for example could use a buff as they see almost no play besides the shield for snb tanks) while items like bloodlord weapons get nerfed. pve items should never be bis in a pvp centric game.

buffs to sent weapons would be nice too. while some sent weapons are decent for very specific class/builds (like the reactionary proc 2h for BG/SM or movespeed proc 2h for knight/chosen/ib) most of the other weapons are bad due to lacking crit chance or having weak procs.

as far as sets and bonuses.. many warlord and invader sets need a thorough re-itemization and set bonus changes. if you are going to consider nerfing vic/tri, please reduce the cost (of the ring, at least) substantially to compensate.

you should look at darkpromise and onslaught too. they are mathematically bis (proven via calculations) over, or combined with, sov/warlord/tri/vic on some builds currently. imo this goes against the vertical progression of the game when you are finding items which are 10-20 item levels lower than sov/warlord more valuable than the highest tier items in the game. the LV secret boss wounds ring should be on the chopping block too.

This.

I've a question about the gear rebalance and off-specs. Historically off-specs suffered from a consistent lack of stats, because their base stats are low. Gear often was used as a way to compensate for this, except in the case of tanks who, of course, still needed to remain tanks.

With this more formulaic approach to gearing, is there a risk that it will push these archetypes out of viability? Gersy mentioned the secret boss rings, for example, and even those too are used in such a way, while other classes mostly prefer annuli.

I would also be careful around stats like Toughness, because it is frankly underwhelming and Initiative, for the opposite reason, because it is very effective. Not all stats in this game are made equal.

Another thing to consider is set-mixing. Often I realise that current sets seem to bizzarely keep in mind what you and can't mix them with. Which is why some pieces seem to have intebtionally suboptimal stats, as a way to cushion the sheer benefit of mixing it with other sets. I would hope that this rebalancing is done while conscious of this.

Finally, I think most classes will do whatever they can to get softcap offensive stats. Overvalueing crit may leave classes that rely on landing crits effectively gimped and could tip the stat balance in such a way that stacking reduced chance to be crit will create a situation where those classes will no longer function at all.

These are some of the ways I can see this going wrong.

• These changes will also add values for Procs and set bonuses, meaning that the bonus values on a number of item sets will also be changing. This will eventually include the Triumphant and Victorious sets, and due to the high War Crest cost associated with the ring in these sets, we’ll share additional information once we determine what these adjustments will be.

Is there a possibility in the future to buy with Crests, as the ring and potions, items like Triumphant Medals?
Thanks in advance.

I actually was hoping for the same thing. Similar to how Sentinel weapons has the merchants who exchange the weapons for a gold cost. Let us be able to decide between stats or procs.

I have the impression that the game is heading towards becoming a fast food where people would like to play DPS but tough as a tank with the ability to heal, and on top of that, farm it in a few weeks because "it's so hard to farm equipment now." I'm afraid that actions that interfere with players' already acquired equipment will have the opposite effect.

Hm interesting. It is probably "needed" to reshuffle some of these stats. For example the Gutslime staff is very potent for how easy it is to get and how much magicpower it gives so I can see some items might need to adjusted for the gearing treadmill. And then having the deftdefender genesis piece on the other end of the spectrum.

But whats the overall goal with this reshuffle, is it change for the sake of change? Because you have succesfully implimented 3 sove sets and 3 Lostvale sets, despite having these out-of-line wrongly tuned items. So again, whats the goal here?

What I personally hope to see done if this has to be touched

Make the other weapons more of an alternative to Bloodlord, dont just nerf bloodlord 5% but bring up the different procs on Sentinel, and the weapon dps/stats on lvl 61 weapons.
Address the situation where healer archtypes often keep a lvl 45 weapon instead of the lvl 61 version, because its just better stat optimized. Look at the cases with experienced players and dont just do blanket changes but take some player experience and have a goal for this overhaul.
The defence procs for 2handed tanks are very liked, again dont just nerf the top pick but bring up alternative options.

In the past on RoR we got told "some sets need to be dogsh*t for others to be better" are we past this mindset now(?) alright cool, but then alot of the invader sets need to be looked at again. The price on these put up against how easily you can bypass this ward from just doing 4 bastion stairs runs, buying your later on bis ranked gear to close the ward + bs drops is a common solution around invader just not being appealing for a late expensive set. I just hope you have all of these complications in mind and dont do this patch just for the sake of doing it, so its easier in the future to plug in stats on new pieces for TOVL but as a result leaving alot of gearing players or veteran players upset because their current gear gets massively changed and their timeinvestment is not respected.

Dont get me wrong, I do think this could be a possitive! But you need to handle it correctly, and carefully. Thanks for the heads up.
(Now time to see if my ranged classes survive the RDPS patch AND a stat reshuffle patch this year. GULP)

I just hope as I said we can turn-in say Vi/Triumph Rings if u deside to change/nerf that and those sets, cause its NOT fair if u alter that after ppl grind those expensive sets out on multiple chars.

Iam very worried u are gonna change/mess this up specially after u left the game in such a terrible state after the Mdps rework balance (or rather lack of balance)

I understand u want to keep the game fresh and updated iam just saying give us a chance to then have the option to refund, thats only fair. Some of us have limited time to spend in RoR

I think this is a solid concept, in theory, as it could provide a sound and stable foundation for further balancing. At the moment, we all know that some "class" balancing issues are at least partially the fault of gear imbalances (e.g. grimshimmer, etc), so this could work out well if properly executed.

Having said that, I do echo the sentiment of others about end-game gear being potentially adversially impacted, and the length of time it can take to obtain 20k crests for such gear. Therefore, I'd also like to see a way to swap gear around at the patch, if a player desires so. For example, my SW uses Triumphant, but suddenly Victorious may be more appealing - who knows?

I'm also curious when actual class balancing will take place, as there are some clear outliers that are overtuned, and some other classes that never get to the see the light of day. In general, class balancing takes too long and is done in big fell swoops with lots of unintended consequences, which result in OP classes remaining OP for way too long. That's not a dig at the devs, who are doing this in their spare time, but just a wish I'd have: more frequent and more incremental balancing.
