Shaman Healer

I play in small groups (6 men) as a Shaman healer and I'd like to know how the Shaman fits into this team composition and what builds are available after the patch.

Shammy used to be better but it is still good healer. But Something was ninja changed Tactics Greener cleaning/AM tactic used to be 15 years obvious choice, because It stacked with itself and had small absorb with the hot and Am/Shammy could easily use mechanic to reduce Cool down to 3s instead of 5s. So you could have 2 running on 2 players. But now if you use the tactic it just replaces the current one wasting the abSorb +. Hot ticks. It works against itself... And take away 10sec ICD from runway tactic or make it max 3s.

I mostly play DPS shaman so im far from the best healer. And since the rework, I've definitely gotten worse. I loved the rework for DPS specs, but I just haven't really adjusted to FodG being so much worse in healer spec.

Anyways, there's a few specs that I've messed about with.

1) Burst Healer

This is all about being able to do occasional massive bursts of healing. Your focus is to apply 2 HoTs (Do Sumfing Useful and Ey Quit Bleedin) to get up to 5 Gork's Waaagh. Keep applying HoTs until someone needs some big healing.

Then, target them, chuck on Shrug it Off, and hit Morks Gift (or Gather Round if group in general needs healing). You're basically trying to stack bonuses to get massive burst healing. For single target, you're getting +15% (shrug it off) +30% (morks gift 5 bonus) +40% (if target below 30% health) and +50% (Burst of Waagh) bonus healing if u crit heal for total of 135% bonus, or 85% bonus for not crit heal.

6k-7k heal isn't unusual. You do need to stack a lot of heal crit chance to make it work (im at just under 50%). But when it works, it's bloody awesome!

I really also like the ranged AoE punt. Not necessarily useful in small scale but I find it a lot of fun, especially punting people off keeps during sieges.

2) Utility

Shamans have some pretty cool utility, so if your 6man has another really great healer, u can drop some of your healing focus in order to help the rest out. Damage buff from bubble can be really great, especially if ur grp is good at coordinating. Insta rez is lovely. Morale pump is in there. You can still pump out decent healing numbers, its mostly ur burst that drops.

If you dont need insta rez, or dont like morale pump, either cleanse tactic (but not both at same time, i dont think they stack) can be good. The Gork Fix'd It tactic is also good for this build, so u can do a bit of AP pumping (5x direct heal to get to 5 Mork, then use AP drain to give whole group AP).

Also run with Gork Sez Stop, its just a fantastic skill that I love! Skilled players often just stop moving when they notice they have it, so its good for getting people off you when ur trying to kite.

3) Fluff Numbers

This requires sov, but you can get most of this build without it, you just won't have FodG.

With this build, u put Shrug it Off on someone and then spam Gork'll Fix It. This can be done on the move which helps, and it counts as a direct heal so it triggers the Pass it On tactic. Get to 5 Mork and then chuck a vastly improved HoT on someone.

The career builder doesn't have it, but theres the tactic that makes Ey Quit Bleedin hit 3 targets. U can drop ur willpower tactic in favour of making Ey Quit bleedin AoE for more fluff numbers.

With the right setup, u can spam Gork'll Fix It, which can crit for 1k initial heal (and u can use it every GCD, so sustained healing isn't bad) and then a big HoT every 5 skills for more sustain, all whilst pumping out free AoE healing.....albeit in low amounts.

I don't really run this build, but it can really pad your numbers if you're blob surfing or actually in the blob. Its also pretty simple as ur mostly just spamming 1 skill whilst kiting.

I really wanted to play DD Shamane too. But I decided against it on the advice of many others. Unfortunately, I won't be taken into warbands with it and will only be able to play in very small groups.

Hopefully you will read this. I haven't played this since retail, so thanks for those builds. I'm going to aim for the first one with burst healing. For Talismans in gear, I vaguely remember it was stacking armor and toughness, is this still true? IS it 50/50 with maybe a few will power (I'm in T2 now). I'm guessing I'll need heal crit talis if this is a thing.

Sham may get a lil' boost to match archmages heals (+25% crit/aoe hot/better st)
250 tough hot is great but it takes time to cast on each people and it's another buff gladly stripped
Then sham cool advantages are the detaunt/runaway tactics and ofc M1

Anyway here's another spec :
RoR.builders - Shaman
4th tactic : Lookit what I did (isn't on career builder)

Heal crit talis aren't a thing, except for the stalwart stone talis. They can only be slotted into Sentinel, Vic and Tri jewellery and they decay after 7 days. But, you do get 5% heal crit from them, which is worth it!

Rest of your talis is kinda up to you. I've personally gone 5 armour / 3 wounds. Great when you're facing physical damage opponents, not so great against magic. Going toughness works against all damage types, but its hard to stack it high enough to make it really noticable.

Main thing (imo) you want to aim for is getting your health pool high enough so you can survive initial burst damage. If you can survive that, then you can detaunt and start healing yourself back up. With a liniment, I hit 9.7k hp so I feel pretty tanky in small scale, but don't kid yourself: you're still a light armoured healer! Detaunt, friendly tanks and kiting are still your best hope of survival!!
