BO is a tank. If you want to play a tank, play the BO.

Choppa is a DPS. If you want to play a DPS, play a Choppa.

2h BO is a brawler tank like its mirror the Swordmaster. What this means is that its niche in a group setup is providing higher than normal level of assist damage than a tank can normally put out. Note I said “assist damage” there, that’s because a 2h tank is not a main damage dealer but rather works with the actual damage dealers (DPS) to provided additional assist damage to kill targets faster. All 2h tanks can do this, but BO/SM specialize at it as brawler tanks.

A 2h tank is still a tank, your main duties will always be to do tank things (Guard, CC, buff/debuff, mitigation, etc.) before you even think about doing damage. 2h is also very gear dependent after level 40, with it not being viable until you get endgame gear. PvE gear is pretty bad for 2h tanks, so you’ll need to buy the gear with crests, which will take a LONG time to get to as you’ll need to pick up your SnB set first if you plan on doing RvR as 2h tanks have no place in RvR.

As for solo-roaming, it’s a niche and incredibly unforgiving playstyle that’s only viable at end game for most classes unless you have a tonne of experience. The videos you’ve watched are highlight reels from very experienced players with BiS characters. They don’t reflect the reality of solo roaming, especially for someone new to the game. It can be an incredibly rewarding playstyle when you can actually find a good fight, but finding a good fight will happen far less than you getting ganked repeatedly for hours at a time. As a new player I would advise you to not even think about it for now and focus on the core group aspects of the game.

So with all that being said, the choice is really down to what you’re looking to do in the game? Play Choppa if you want to focus purely on DPS, or BO if you want to focus on tanking with damage on top. 2h is an off-spec for both, so you’ll need to switch to mains-spec (dual-wield for Choppa and SnB for BO) when in an RvR warband. 2h specs are only for small scale like scenarios so keep that in mind.

I think bloodlord or vale walker is a great entry set for 2h BO.

I think they turned off what it used in order to break nerfed buttons, dont quote me on that though

According to Zomega:

Due to the anti-NerfedButton checks added to the game, the default configuration of this addon using pages 1/2/3 for the stances can cause issues. To fix this, have it use pages 1/6/7 instead. This will only work if using the first action bar. The chat command to set this up is:

/planb pages=1,6,7 hotbar=1

This also gives you full use of the other 4 action bars for other things. Not all classes are allowed to use pages 6 and 7 for abilities, but BO and SM are one of the exceptions to ensure this add-on works correctly.
