So, the offspec of a tank does too much damage?
I've solo'd for years in this game across a number of classes to BIS. Tanks are nowhere near a DPS class or the offspec of a healer in terms of damage/burst/dps.
There are far too many bs abilities in this game that either bypass mitigation or bypass avoidance to take this thread seriously anymore. Heck, it's debatable to even take Deft Defender or Parry anymore.
Armor is almost worthless due to insane Armor Pen or abilities that avoid armor all together. If you're playing an IB you have 2 choices, Super Tanky punt/guard bot or 2H, but you have to accept other classes are going to beat you.

Re: Seeing a big Trend with Solo Regen Chosen.
What makes HD being 11 point so bad? I genuinely don't see the downside. You'd have to invest into it, just like most other classes do. Sounds like a fair tradeoff to me. It's 35% now as far as I'm aware which isn't the best but it's something at least.Stinksuit wrote: Fri Dec 12, 2025 1:43 pm Because heal debuff actually is a 11 point skill tactic into zealots left tree and also it got reworked into a "weaker" value hd because its aoe (my guess is you've been away from sometime or simply dont know zealots?) anyways.
Youre asking about the classes, well simply from my memory I think me and guildies who solo roam cover almost every class besides sorc/bw and bg. Myself I have mained zealot for something like 4 to 5 years by now and yes while "I main a filthy op dps zealot" I also mained it when it was, well let's just say not so op xD I also have marauder, squig herder, we, wh, asw and chosen (which I play with fo).
My dots usually hit anywhere from 400 to 900 per tick multiplied by 2 to 4 depending if im in range or not. Hence I keep saying that the regen alone wont save you from the op dot classes these days.
I am a bit confused about your post, it kinda seems you both support and are against regen? Maybe I misunderstood something.
As I mentioned before, I do not doubt that you, or anyone else, sees success with offensive builds against the average player. There was a vid here recently, don't remember who it was from (no hate), which showcased a majority of fights against people holding S or running around pressing random things without any logic. THAT is the average person you fight in this game, no doubt you can stomp them as a way above average player (judging from your vids) with no effort at all, but those are not the ones I'm talking about when I say that regen with the right build is overtuned.
You're right, my post was quite confusing and lacks structure. Basically, regen itself is fine and I support it for reasons I already explained. Just for transparency, I'm currently experimenting with a tri-geared WL and running full offensive with regen, every now and then I explode in a KD or when caught too which I think is totally fair and a good tradeoff for some sustain. My SM on the other hand is full sov crit with 80%+ parry and if I happen to equip full regen on him the effective damage I take in melee is close to nothing. From my point of view regen becomes a massive issue when you combine it with defensive builds because it puts your opponent on a rather short timer before they run out of AP/ressources. If I had to answer, I'd say the root of it are certain classes and abilities simply doing too much damage with too little investment - mainly magical thus leaving too many stats to be used for defense. It just shouldn't be possible to do so much basedamage while still being tanky (for DPS healers swap tankiness with healing), simply doesn't make sense. Tinkering with the scaling could work for some classes, for others it wouldn't (like def WE, they are currently running high STR anyway I believe?) but it's at least a start. This way those who want to go full str/int can still enjoy their class fantasy and do the same damage while those with way less will be tanky but not such a threat when it comes to dmgoutput. I mean, in the end I personally don't care about anything regen+deftard except for WE because at this point I literally just ignore them and walk away but WE is a lot harder to get away from so I'm more arguing for the sake of balance honestly.
As a sidenote, no reason why my Ether Dance crits for ~700 per tick while I'm close to invincible in melee.
So in summary: regen + squishy = good, regen + deftard = bad. Increase scaling, decrease basedmg.
Re: Seeing a big Trend with Solo Regen Chosen.
I'm sorry for you man but this sound a skill issue or maybe (your) IB underperform at some point, cause of wrong spec or gear or idk..tomolyons wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 9:30 am ill start by saying im a RR83 Ironbreaker. (2H build sometimes)
I'm seeing a big trend in the same builds that solo chosen are choosing which says to me is the meta and also the ultimate build. Full regen with grimshimmer.
Upon looking at the killboard it is always the same abilities doing the most dmg: Relentless, Dreadful agony, Backlash.
This is this clearly a build that cannot be beaten melee. Dreadful agony is dealing free damage as well as backlash. all the the player has to do is spec defensive and the fight is won. every single chosen I come across solo is using this build because clearly they know they cannot be beaten is the best build.
Regen needs a serious rework. I too use regen Items (fleshrender etc). its clear that Regen is more stronger on other classes than others. There needs to be either less regen or Healing debuff also works with regen. Now I do have a lot of time for solo classes, but its becoming boring seeing the same classes stacking the same build.
Ill finish by saying Chosen are 'One Button Heroes'
Thank you
Imo Chosens and regen are totaly fine, As a solo tank (Kotbs), i have faced a lot of solo Chocho et i never lost any 1v1 against them, i just lost 2 duels vs ragnarokb but i was low rr, not having and knowing my bis build yet, and i was doing ****..
my killboard here : https://killboard.returnofreckoning.com ... oOnly=true
And most of biggest Chosens i dueled against like Illuminati or Kos, just results as a draw and we just give up and move away..
And that's from a high and also low regen build pov btw.
That means Chosens are well balanced against other tank, at least kotbs.
And i'm now playing 2h with low regen and i still can't find any chosens that can kill my toon.. so..
Maybe you need to rework your IB to make it more competitive, or maybe IB just underperform.. but chosens or regen are not the issues.
Re: Seeing a big Trend with Solo Regen Chosen.
I can absolutely promise you Regen Chosen are the Issue. My IB was full Offensive spec with regen too (off sov and warlord, fleshrender). 50% armor pen. High crit. high strength. 2H build. And it is the same chosen regen builds that are clearly overperforming. Like I said in my post. All a Regen Chosen has to do is spec defensively and let Dreadful Agony, Relentless and Backlash do the work. Killboard has all the evidence for this its not hard to see.Lescargo wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 7:50 amI'm sorry for you man but this sound a skill issue or maybe (your) IB underperform at some point, cause of wrong spec or gear or idk..tomolyons wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 9:30 am ill start by saying im a RR83 Ironbreaker. Like on other threads, its the same issue With Regen WE's. They spec defensively too and rely on abilities that completely bypass Armor or toughness or Witchbrew.
Re: Seeing a big Trend with Solo Regen Chosen.
You need to have the right balance of offensive and defensive to be able to fight those specs. Not necessarily full def regen but enough avoidance and resists to lower their damage done to enable your damage fighting down their defenses first.tomolyons wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:11 pmI can absolutely promise you Regen Chosen are the Issue. With your build you might be able to take down squishies slightly faster, but with high crit and high str you probably neglected parry/ini and might have skipped skills and tactics like magic absorb and corp resist.
The kotbs posted has around 70% parry and a solid res aura for example.
And going high crit against def WB WEs will grant then a huge amount of absorb which then again is quite a good counter against crit hits.

You keep telling that chosens overperforming while i explained you that none of them can actualy beat my kotbs..
Explain me how Chosens overperforming if they can't beat a good kotbs ?
then Kotbs superoverperforming ?
And man, i don't know how IB is working, but you say 50% armor pen, high crit , high strength. Considering that offensive stats stacking, i'm pretty sure you have low defenses..
I made enough theorycrafting on my kotbs to know that stacking crit is almost impossible without cutting in parry or block. And, how's your magic resistances btw ?
Maybe show your gear, stats, build and tactic setup, some experienced IBs here might find something to rework..

not 70% parry, it's 50% into 60% with weapon proc. I don't use coordination tactic
Re: Seeing a big Trend with Solo Regen Chosen.
Yes I have of course sacrificed some defensive stats in order to have my build. But these regen chosen are still mitigating half My dmg with the chosen debuffed and buffs myself. That with full regen including grimshimmer.
I just cannot kill them quick enough before they kill me and I'll say it for a 3rd time. Backlash, relentless, dreadful agony and some touch of palsy. All of this damage is undefendable. What are you not getting from that? Yes it's a slower fight than usual but the point is it's a deftard build because of the regen.
My build has no problems or if anything even match ups against other classes but a chosen deftard regen spec. Absolutely no chance like it'd not even close. Chosen walks away with full health. Yeah that's totally balanced

Just because YOUR build can't kill something doesn't mean that something is OP. Maybe IB needs a nerf, if you're struggling ONLY with chosen?
