Marauder Gift Questions

They refer to "Attacks" as being the source of the proc, what exactly does this cover? Auto attacks and abilities? Damage from other sources such as buffs/tactics? And how does this interact w/ the skill flail which hits twice in 1 cast?

And has anyone done the math on the dps output of savagery proc vs brutality? Or can help set up an equation/chart for it? Offhand weapon swing would be tricky to figure for I bet. As well how toughness interacts w/ DoT damage compared to the single instances of damage from brutality proc, and how savagery proc interacts w/ things like block parry etc...

Currently any melee ability or auto attack has a chance to proc the gift and I believe flail has 2 chances to proc that was the point of the attack. I haven't tested the interaction of the gifts with touch of rot/instability unsure if it can proc them.

They cannot. Both ToR and ToI deal proc damage, which doesn't proc other procs.

So the Brutality proc says it will make it "almost certain" your offhand will swing on attacks. Anyone know the % chance?

And in this thread we have this quote

"Just calculated the proc chance of the offhand hit, and it results 0?46. But should need a more extended review."

Which states the chance of the offhand swinging when the MH hits is ~46%? Does the brutality proc stack with that at all? Multiplicatively/Additively? Or is it a completely separate chance meaning you offhand can swing twice from mainhand auto attack, once from the games offhand swing formula and once from the gift of brutality?

Also doesn't this mean that the brutality only skill "impale" is utter trash while in brutality compared to flail which is the monstro attack? That just seems dumb to me. It has less base damage, arguably even w/ the armor ignore... and flail has a good chance to have you offhand weapon hit twice instead of once, meaning flails damage is marginally better than what impale could ever achieve?

To be fair most of the mara spamables are trash they had allot more damage rotating attacks. Thunderous Blows > Cutting Claw > Tainted Claw > Corruption > Debilitate > Thunderous Blows > Tainted Claw and your free to throw in a gut ripper at any time its available preferably before thunderous blows.

Don't forget flail "shouldn't" benefit from piecing bite, impale does not that it would batter against a light armoured target or slayer as Cutting claw will debuff most if not all the targets armour.

Admittedly though maras are stuck spamming flail as they lack a few of their debuffs atm (boohoo)

Last thing impale has low base damage because nobody wanted to give mara agonising wounds that would be crazy :P

IDK right now im doing

Savagery > Corruption > Tainted Claw > Brutality > Flail Spam

Of course you have your situational stuff thrown in as well, sort of why I started this thread to get the rotation and spec down.

Aside for the rotation above, I assume just putting 5 points into monstro for the +25 str/toughness from buff and extra dps on flail is greater than anything else you could do with the points, and the tactics would be brute strength and jagged edge?

It's either monstro for increased flail size or savagery for the harder hitting and larger debuffs.

I like to start with a relevant touch before beginning a rotation but only on a hard target rend can be also applied right after but only once, with savagery, jagged edge and a rend the back loaded damage is defiantly there.

Almost certain could be really close to 100 %.

Bruglirs post is what matters
Auto Attack formulas:
duelwield auto attack strikes have a main hand hit, and a 45% proc rate for an offhand hit.
Some say 46% I trust Bruglir though

Note OH PROCs are only triggered by AA MH hits never by abilities like flail. Also all channels pauses AA but I think Aza said the AA timers run even during channel. That means directly after channel you are likely to get an AA that can PROC an offhand.
any ability that says "will almost always" or "virtually", means +/- 100% (depending if it's "will almost always block/parry/critically hit" would add 100%. or "is virtually undefendable" would subtract 100%)
So in Brutality MH is "almost certain" likely was 100% to PROC offhand

EDIT: hmm starting to suspect it was a bit lower then 100% as the wording isn't spot on. Have no evidence of it though :P

The wording is to cover for situations in which the condition does not occur because of an opposing stat reduction or bonus.
