DPS balance phase (community) survey

With the DPS rework phase coming up next and especially with so many "buff/nerf" posts coming up lately, I was curious to see what the community as a whole thinks about what each class is lacking/has too much of.

In the following poll please only select options for classes you have experience/opinions for.
You do not have to select an option everywhere!


The poll pertains all dps classes, including the recently revamped healer dps specs

For all the options of what each class needs, the answers correspond to:

1 = Heavy Nerfs
2 = Slight Nerfs
3 = Should stay about the same
4 = Slight Buffs
5 = Heavy Buffs


AOE = Area of Effect
ST = Single Target

I should state that this poll is just to see what the community/forum users think, and is in no way, shape or form supposed to influence what actually ends up happening in the DPS balance phase. Decided to do out mainly out of personal curiosity.

Out of the 180 submissions, 15 were invalid (complete blanks, all 1s, all 5s, all 5s for one faction and all 1s for another, etc.)
Most questions gathered around 130 answers.

The final results will be presented with 2 metrics:
  • Mean = the average of all valid votes in the category
  • Standard Deviation = essentially how much those valid votes deviate from the mean value. Will be abbreviated as SD. An SD of 0 means that all voters agreed completely and for larger SDs it means that the voters were torn on the issue and had varying votes. The larger the SD, the more the voters disagreed on the issue.

The game needs a reversion to classic AoR model of lower aoe cap and higher damage imo. Its too defensive and too passive. Especially in scenarios

It should also have more investment from players going full glass cannon if they wanna do such so that they are then very vulnerable.

A renown talent that provides like 10% crit and in return you are 10% more likely to be crit for example would be nice

I think it's interesting that a lot of people believe squigs single target dps is too high. I feel the same but mainly the pets damage and their damage compared to sorc, which is underperforming in my opinion.

I must thank the devs for listening even more to the playing community! I main a dps WP and feel that even though the healer patch gave good changes to the class spec, it still feels underwhelming to the DoK mirror. Removing all AA speed was not a good change and could've been mitigated with maybe a 25% AA proc with crit to Fanaticism, or something along those lines. Removing the snare from Judgement was a big nerf since the spec has no snare secondary snare, while dps DoK has both skill snare AND proc snare from an aura. Also a 50%/5s speed buff after a kill is pretty OP. A 50% AA with a much larger dps swing was high-ish, so why not nerf that to 25% and placed on a needed tactic for the spec instead of adding a base damage tactic that quite frankly is useless. I would also like to add reverting Divine Strike back to its original intention of healing AOE/using RF instead of its current iteration. Divine Strike's almost useless now in a rotation and gimps the dps WP to doing half of any healing whatsoever within scs and rvr. If the spec isn't to do 100% of the dps of a actual dps class, then it should at least make for the loss of dps with some healing to group/faction members.

Also the shield WP spec isn't as viable as it was before the healer patch. IMO, it should give more group buffs (as the 13 point ranged shield channel did), but Benediction isn't close to as useful. Either it should shield the entire party for the 10s and lose the +35% to casted heal or give a AOE drain for 150% of damage to the party as with the DoK mirror. This seems only balanced.

Good poll by the way, I personally respect the effort and only gave an opinion for classes that I actually play. I hope others do the same objectively.

Their damage would be fine if my detaunt applied to both the player and pet at the same time. It's broken as it is.
