Doombolt with a CQ tactics- requites the sorc to be in melee range, as a squishiest class in game.
Sorry, but but the actual squishiest classes in game are SW, SH and sniper engie. Why? Because the necessity of having 2 stats (bs+ws) forces you to go for glass cannon build or be irrelevant - which means 7-8k hp, 0 toughness and no trivial/futile blows whatsoever. No, armor stance doesn't help either. Thus, BiS BW/sorc/magus can have some free points to spend, since int>bs+ws and in case of BW/sorc they can sacrifice a bit of their damage potential since their class mechanic is actually buffs their damage really good.
Here are the problems with this statement.
1. The baseline (noncrit) dmg of sorc sucks ass. You can cast that Doombolt for 3 sec, and get a 900 dmg after mitigation- 450 dmg per gcd. So you have to invest heavily into crit, which is the most expensive stat in game.
2. SW, SH and sniper engie don't self nuke with moral dmg every third cast, unlike sorc.
3. Even sniper engi will have much more armor than sorc because of armor self buff which stacks with armor pot. And he can increase it even more if he uses armor tactic. SW, SH have emergency armor stance.
4. In addition, SW, SH and sniper engie have emergency def abilities- SW self punt + aoe snare, sh speed tactic +squig armor + KABOOM, engi aoe stagger. Sorc has non.
