What class is best for my preferred playstyle?

So first off, I'm new to return of reckoning and I want to play a dps class that has a more dynamic rotation. I enjoy procs and reacting to new things in a rotation instead of a set rotation that I would have to follow. I also usually play a melee class in mmo's so that would be preferred but I'm not against trying ranged. If anyone could help me find a class suited for me I would be very thankful for any suggestions. And for aesthetics I don't enjoy greenskins or the dawi, sorry to those who are big fans of them. :P

Hello and welcome !

You can try Shadow Warrior using assault (melee) spec + skirmish (mid-range), wich have many tools and a "stance" system wich allow you to back and forth with a good dynamic and fluid gameplay.

Mirrored class is Squig Herder on Destruction, however there is no stance system but a summoned Pet you use to gets you bonuses.
However, while it's more "free" without having to switch stance to use some skills, you wont have the same dynamic as for to speak.

These are the only two classes that can reliably play melee + ranged in the same character. SW is a bit more polyvalent since he can go melee+ranged with same tactic set, and same for Area of Effect skills (ranged) that can be specced and played when needed by a tactic set switch mid-battle.

As for other DPS classes, melee only there are Slayer/Choppa who are very fun to play but I understand aestethics are not for your taste.

You can try other DPS classes but they often come with "sequences" you dislike, especially witch Hunter / Witch elf (who are pretty much solo/small scale only classes) and Bright Wizard / Sorcerer classes (who need heavy support to be effective).

Engineer / Magus classes are atm very dependant of their "pets" wich are static turrets, and need to always be placed beforehand, thus limiting their frontload damage.

White Lion and Marauder are pretty enjoyable for melee classes, and get heavy frontload damage at the expense of AP cost (they tend to quickly run dry, at least the WL), but for solo play they are enjoyable, thus a bit more limited (but not useless) for warband play.

It's in fact a matter of taste and what you enjoy more as for gameplay, roaming in smallscale or surfing the zerg, DPS classes are far from equal in all those areas.

Hello Fenris, thank you for responding to my question about suggestions. Do you mean witch hunter, witch elf, bright wizard, and sorcerer have static rotations? I'm looking for a rotation that is engaging, like fury warrior from WoW for example. I was also looking at the wiki and saw career masteries of tanks and healers that could also dps. I'm not interested in healing at all but if they happen to help allies while dpsing then that sounds fine or if a tank can dps but also be tanky as well. I don't really mind what class is good in certain gameplay situations and more of what would be a fun rotation (mostly thinking of procs if they are in the game) with aesthetics that I like. Can certain tank classes and healer classes dps just as well?

Sounds like you could give a try to Marauder.

Note that ASW is a bit of a case of: If you are a bad player, you suck. If you are a fantastic player, you are barely ok. Even the best possible ASW will still get outperformed by an average slayer.

And on top of it, you can look forward to a pretty sizeable nerf in the next months. Just to warn you so you don't get disappointed.
