How is it fun? I rmember trying RP dps and the damage was abysmal while leveling.githappens wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:15 pm Fun? Dps Zealot.

Damage is bellow average, it's more utility than real dps. Has great debuffing (AoE armor/corp debuff on Demon Spittle, ST armor & all resists on M1), can spam 50% heal debuff with tactic and do some minor healing while dealing ST damage if you go Witchcraft heavy. Can also go more AoE with Dark Rites, but that sucks without CF from Choppa, yet Wind of Insanity is ultimate trolling tool.TomSeas wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:55 pmHow is it fun? The aoe armor/corp debuff you can do as a heal spec just fine, same with m1.githappens wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 7:10 pmDamage is bellow average, it's more utility than real dps. However the most enjoyable part of whole act will be whining of your team.
It's more about fun than power.
Base chance to be crit in 1-39 is high on average, especially when you got 15% crit chance on Scrouge on your Chaotic Force tactic and you will Scrouge alot due to instant cast procs coming from Scrouged Warping. Won't even comment on average people dumping everything into Futile Stikes, because even on cr40 average players don't do that.Detangler wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:37 pmThe aoe armor/corp debuff you can do as a heal spec just fine, same with m1.githappens wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 7:10 pmDamage is bellow average, it's more utility than real dps. You need high crit gear to reliably spam 50% heal debuff which does not exist in low tier gear. You have to just hope your target doesn't take futile strikes. Oh also it works single target only.
Winds of Insanity is very situational at best. Better to get the 6 second insta stagger so you can stop a freecasting healer in the back line.
Please please don't try going full DPS spec as a Zealot. Feel free to occasionally turn on harbinger and cast a couple DD spells to help finish off a target when your allies are all topped off - that can work quite well and can be a lot of fun. But DPS zealot in current state is probably the worst by far out of all 12 classes on destro side for doing damage.
The problem with utility classes is that there must be competent players who know what you are doing and can take advantage of that. You won't find this in solo queue scenarios, especially in the rank 1 - 39 brackets. That means you need to be in a premade. And here's the point: ANY class played within a premade is fun when that premade is winning.githappens wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 7:10 pm

Having fun is a highly subjective matter, as mentioned in the quote above. I believe the key is to determine what you're aiming for. Do you want to achieve the highest damage output in scenarios? Are you looking to assist others in dominating the scenario, perhaps by playing as an offensive tank with effective crowd control, serving as the main DPS caller in a group, or even leading a pickup group scenario if you can effectively communicate your role as the main assist and inspire others to focus on the right targets?TomSeas wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:38 am What's the class you like playing the most while leveling 1-39 in scs? Specifically dps (or dps tanks) since tanks/healers are a bit more passive and can't score kills as easily.
When I last played a year ago I found these to be super fun:
Engi with dot build as you could melt teams as soon as you had some decent gear and talis
SM because of a near 25% speed boost and then you'd get the heal debuff
AM/Sham are classic favorites
Those 3 could get decent builds online at certain level thresholds so you'd have things to look forward to at all times.
- DPS dok has the same 50% heal debuff on crit but much much higher single target damage potential.githappens wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:15 pmBase chance to be crit in 1-39 is high on average, especially when you got 15% crit chance on Scrouge on your Chaotic Force tactic and you will Scrouge alot due to instant cast procs coming from Scrouged Warping. I had to convince people on those forums (from TUP, lol) that healing ritual with changes > AP ritual, that morale pump best tactic with Windblock, or that Wind of Insanity is extremly powerful and later two of them got their own QQ topics. While I won't convince you that DPS Zealot is better than Sorc, Magus or rSH, because that simply wouldn't be true, I believe it can be fun for those who seek challenge and unique playstyle.
I'd like to note I've outdpsed average WL and Slayers on dps RP in the past in City Sieges (despite them gaining alot more damage due to aoe armor debuff). I bet I could outdps average Choppas and Marauders on Zealot. Sadly they rest in peace, so we won't know... but technicaly Zealot has higher potential due to how CF can outpeform WW (1:1).
You underestimate the power of dps zealot. The amount of kills they can get can be quite impressive. Just don't forget that most of this kills will be from his own team's deaths.Detangler wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:37 pm Please please don't try going full DPS spec as a Zealot. I just finished 2H SM (not SW) (Bicskasm) and it felt OP all the way. I was even messagaed: "Thanks for ruining midtier scs with your premade" and I was soloqueuing all the time except for one single scenario the previous night.TomSeas wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:38 am What's the class you like playing the most while leveling 1-39 in scs?
