Duplicate Player Name for weeks old Character

I recently got booted while in Altdorf and then tried to reconnect and it said there was a duplicate name. I could not get past this. I then attempted to retype the current name but made a typo and now I have a name that makes no sense. Why did this happen at all? And can anything be done to fix this back?

This also includes using the names of real people (political figures, porn stars, criminals, etc). This is applies to both your forum account and any character names.

Thank you for the clarification of this. Would there be a way to change to trigger the name change again? The current name could vaguely be associated with the original reference and rather than get another name change would like to steer clear from that mistake again. Even if it is not considered close I would just like to go for a full name change if possible.

While I may lack the ability to choose a noncontroversial/rule violating name, I DO know how to treat people with dignity and respect. Thank you for your quick assistance sioding!

I chose a name using a pun in reference to a political figure. I thought it was funny but can see how some would use it to troll people and feel this decision to be wise and just. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a bug, so that I could keep the name. With the explanation this made it clear to me. And the added step of giving me one more chance to find the right name was generous on sioding's part. Thank You!

Thats not the same issue. You didn't logged them in for more than 12 months. These names were simply released again.
